We empower our district partners to cultivate systems that not only elevate student outcomes but also expand opportunities for all.

EES Innovation believes all stakeholders have an obligation to remove current barriers that impede student success while providing the resources needed to meet their unique needs. Providing a true sense of equity centers on creating, implementing, and monitoring systems and supports that ensure high expectations for each child, while formulating an individual path to success in academics, skill-development, and social-emotional wellness. Each child must be afforded the opportunity to develop strong interpersonal relationships and advocate for themselves in order to prepare for post-secondary life.

🎉 BIG NEWS FOR MITCHELL COMMUNITY SCHOOLS! 🎉

Mitchell Community Schools is proud to announce that we have been awarded the Next Generation School Improvement Grant through the Indiana Department of Education!

This four-year opportunity will support our efforts to strengthen teaching and learning for students in grades K–8 while exploring new possibilities for student success.

📚 What does this mean for MCS?
✅ Strengthening literacy, mathematics, and core instruction
✅ Exploring innovative learning opportunities
✅ Improving systems and resources to better support students
✅ Preparing students for future success
✅ Building stronger schools and a stronger Mitchell community

The 2026–2027 school year will serve as our planning year, followed by three years of implementation from 2027–2030. We will partner with EES Innovation throughout this process while keeping Mitchell’s priorities, vision, and students at the center of every decision.

This grant is more than an opportunity for improvement. It is a chance to build on what we already do well, think boldly about what is possible, and create lasting opportunities for our students and community.

We are excited about what lies ahead!

Today at Justice Intermediate, 6th-grade students jumped into their first CREATE2THINK unit, tackling a real-world challenge: how can we get critical supplies to a family during a natural disaster?

Students are building background knowledge, asking questions, weighing possible solutions, and using evidence to make decisions as they work through the problem.

This is what student-centered learning looks like: meaningful problems, purposeful reading and writing, and students doing the cognitive heavy lifting.

Big changes have created new opportunities at Justice Intermediate School. They’ve redesigned the school day from the ground up, and it's opening the door to a different kind of school experience. As these changes take shape, we’re going straight to the source. Through student focus groups like this, we’re hearing what students love and how new opportunities are impacting their day-to-day experience at school.

This work is possible through the Indiana Department of Education’s Next Generation School Improvement Grant. Marion Community Schools and EES Innovation are grateful to IDOE for trusting in our vision and allowing us to rethink what school can look like for students.

Our video team is out at Southmont Schools for their final shoot of the school year! It's been a pleasure to work with all of our school partners this year. We've enjoyed learning about all of the amazing people and things happening in every single building. Thank you for letting us be a part of how you tell your story.
