Today is Friday, September 4th, and these are your morning announcements.

1. Students who wish to invite a guest from another high school to the HoCo dance on September 19th must pick up a guest form from Student Services. Once you've followed the steps, make sure it is turned in to Mr. Strickland by Wednesday, September 16th. You will be notified if your guest is permitted to attend or not.....
Dance tickets can be purchased online before or after school by scanning the QR code outside of Student Services or by clicking the link sent in Parent Square.

2. Senior girls who want to know more about the Distinguished Young Women program should attend a meeting next Wednesday during homeroom. The Distinguished Young Women of Montgomery County organization is a scholarship program that recognizes participants for their scholastic achievements, fitness, talent, self-expression, and personal interview.
3. Good news - Interact Club is back in session! We are a student-led club focused on community service, raising money, and spreading awareness for those in need! Interact Club will meet on D days in Mr. Sieferman’s room starting next week. We are excited to see returning members along with new ones hoping to make a difference, and we are excited to see everyone next week! Let's make this year great!

4. Attention senior girls: It's senior jeans time! Find your favorite pair of jeans and decorate them to showcase your school spirit for Homecoming on Friday, September 18. There will be a contest right before the pep session on Friday to determine the most creative and artistic pair.

5. The theme for tonight’s home football game against Western Boone is Senior Citizen.

6. Spirit & Spike night is coming soon! It’s on Tuesday, Sept. 15th. During Spirit & Spike, classes compete for the most spirit points. Girls play pickleball, and the guys play volleyball. Be sure to sign up outside Student Services by next Thursday.

7. Seniors - Franklin College, DePauw University, and Grace College will be at CHS in the next week or so. If you want to know more about any of these schools, go to Canvas and sign up to attend the meeting.

ATHLETIC NEWS
The boys' tennis team defeated Southmont last night 4-1. Jordan Archer and Kent Calvert won at 2 and 3 singles, while Jayden Jimenez and Andrew McCoy won at 1 doubles, and Carter McDorman and Silas Hartnett won at 2 doubles.

The girls volleyball team got back to their winning ways with a 3-game sweep of Attica last night.

The boys tennis team fell to Central Catholic last night, 2-3. Kent Calvert picked up the win at 3 singles while Jayden Jimenez and Andrew McCoy secured a victory at 1 doubles. The team is looking to get back on track tonight against Southmont.

The Girls Soccer team tied 1-1 with Lebanon last evening. Inga Freeze scored the goal for the Athenians.

The boys’ tennis team received their first loss of the season last night, falling to the West Lafayette Red Devils 1-4. The lone win came from Kent Calvert at 3 singles. The boys will be back in action again tonight against Lafayette Central Catholic.

Today is Tuesday, September 1st, and these are your morning announcements.

2. Any student who wants to play baseball next Spring, please stop by Coach Fenimore's room (Room 241 in the Science Hallway) to pick up a fall workout schedule. Even if you are in a fall sport, stop by and pick one up! Practice is canceled for today, and I'm hoping to get out there tomorrow!
3. Any boys, including fall athletes, interested in playing boys volleyball in the spring should see Mr. Callison in Room 208 to pick up a fall workout schedule.

4. A reminder for student drivers: You must have a hang tag in your car. You can purchase one for $5 in the Front Office. And, please don’t park in the first three rows. These are reserved for staff and visitors.

5. Anyone needing service hours can volunteer TONIGHT for the Nicholson Bike & Hike!
Email Laura Newman or go see Mrs. Whitecotton if you are available. There are shifts from 5:20-6:20 or 6:00-7:00. This is a fun and easy way to give back!

ATHLETIC NEWS
The boys and girls soccer teams both picked up 9-0 victories last night at South Vermillion. Girls soccer scorers were Inga Freeze with 4, Alea Seward with 3, Gabriella Saidian with 1, and Mila Greene with 1. It was a great team effort and shout out to our defense who allowed 0 shots! Boys are in action tonight at 7 pm, and the girls host Lebanon tomorrow at 7 pm.

Today is Monday, August 31st, and these are your morning announcements.
1. There are only 2 spots left on Mrs. Ajayi’s trip to haunt the woods at Indiana Fear Farm on Friday, Sept. 25th & Friday, Oct. 16th. If you would like to join, see Mrs. Ajayi in room 171 right away.

2. Sign up in Student Services to run for Student Council representative. Grades 10, 11, & 12 need more class reps. Tomorrow is the deadline to declare your candidacy.

ATHLETIC NEWS
Congratulations to the football team on its Friday victory over Fountain Central 34-8. They host the Western Boone Stars Friday night with a 7 pm start.
The boys soccer team came back from an early 1-0 deficit by picking up two goals late in the second half. The boys are now 4-1 on the season and are back in action tonight at South Vermillion.

Meet the 2026–2027 Youth Civic Engagement Council!

We had our first meeting of the year and are so excited to be back! We’re looking forward to continuing to make a difference and creating a positive change throughout the Montgomery County community.

We are incredibly grateful to Mayor Barton for creating this opportunity for high school students to have a voice, share their ideas, and play an active role in our community. We’re also thankful to the Youth Service Bureau for welcoming us and hosting for our meeting!
