Our OCMS Football season came to an end Wednesday night with an 18-6 win over East Jackson. We recognize the efforts of this year's 8th graders and wish them well at the high school level next year. Special thanks to out football coaches, cheerleading coaches, & to the many parents that volunteered or provided for the team throughout the season to make it a success.

Mrs. Barnes’ 8th grade Careers students participated in mock job interviews today! Students answered a variety of job-related questions and presented their completed job applications to community members who volunteered to serve as interviewers.

A special thank-you to our wonderful community volunteers for giving their time and helping our students gain valuable experience, build confidence, and practice skills they can carry with them into future opportunities!

This week’s Athletes of the Week are 8th grader Kyra Todd who plays on the volleyball team and 7th grader Reeves Harrison who is a Cross Country runner.

Kyra is a team player with the best attitude. She is always willing to put the team first and play any position she’s thrown into. Kyra continues to work hard to improve in all aspects of the game. Her positive attitude not only shows up on the court, but in the classroom as well!

Reeves Harrison is an excellent example of a student athlete. Reeves is Involved in multiple sports in addition to academic bowl, Beta Club, and other academic pursuits. He is a leader on the Cross Country team who often leads his teammates through stretches or runs and brings a great attitude to all of the Cross Country practices and events.

We had an AWESOME dance Friday night at OCMS! We're thankful for our OCMS student body who we can trust to have a fun & safe time at events like these. And it's refreshing to see kids being kids having fun with each other & without their faces buried in their cell phones.

We're also thankful to our volunteer faculty members that serves as chaperones, our parents that showed up to help monitor, & especially our PTO team (Mrs. Peterman & Mrs. Turner) who helped us set up & have concessions ready among many other dance-related tasks!

And congratulations to our 6th, 7th, & 8th grader who won a free dance ticket thanks to their fundraiser participation as well as another student drawn from those with perfect attendance so far this year!

Don't forget to help us keep pricing fun events like this by supporting OCMS at www.mybooster.com!

Mrs. Barnes’ 8th grade career class is getting ready for their upcoming mock job interviews! Students participated in peer interviews earlier this week to practice answering questions, communicating confidently, and making a great first impression. We’re excited to see them put these skills into action next week!
