Thanks to Bill Grenga for re-animating our ESS Instructors' Cup Regatta tonight with Laser match racing ... and to Dan & Andrew for running the races. Congratulations to Ben & Georgia, our finalists, and to Ben for taking home first place! More than anything, thanks to all our ESS instructors for a great season!

We just celebrated the end of another awesome ESS youth program season with a great awards night! Congratulations to all our young sailors, including this year's recipients of the McKee, Bello, Sachs, Guiliano, and Upham perpetual plaque awards. And a HUGE thanks to Ben and all of our instructors and junior instructors for running the program this year, and to Sheba, Kara, and Nicole for outstanding shore support and kid wrangling!

ESS youth program sailors, families, and friends ... remember to join us after sailing tomorrow, Thursday, August 6, from around 4pm to 6pm, for our annual ESS youth program awards night! We will have burgers and dogs on the grills & sides and desserts brought by ESS families. Awards will start around 5pm. All ESS youth sailors are encouraged to come regardless of what week(s) you sailed ... we will have recognitions for all sailors, we'll present our annual "plaque awards," and we'll recognize the contributions of the ESS 2026 staff. Join us!

Congratulations to our ESS Opti sailors, Andy and Penny, who raced in yesterday's NBYA season finale Opti regatta at EYC yesterday in the RWB and Green Fleets respectively! It was a terrific day on the water and both of our sailors sailed strong races!

Next week is Opti Week at Edgewood Yacht Club!

We're gearing up to host TWO Opti regattas at EYC in the coming days ... first up is our 13th Annual Edgewood Optimist Invitational, run off the docks from around noon to 3pm this coming Sunday, August 2. Then on Tuesday, August 4, we host the final NBYA Opti regatta of the season, with two fleets (Green beginners and RWB advanced sailors) racing to the NE and SE of EYC from around 10am to 2pm or so, with awards to follow in the clubhouse. Keep an eye out for our young mariners when sailing and motoring to & from EYC, and cheer them on when you see them!

ESS youth program families, mark your calendars! The 2026 ESS Youth Program Awards Ceremony & Cookout is Thursday, August 6, from 4 to 6pm. We'll have hot dogs & hamburgers on the grills & ask that families bring sides & desserts. All 2026 youth program participants and their families are invited (regardless of which weeks they were in the program), and all attending sailors will receive the classic ESS personalized paper sailboat awards. We will also continue the tradition of presenting the McKee, Bello, Sachs, Guiliano, and Upham "plaque awards" to the sailors who have earned those honors. RSVP to [email protected].
