Feeding cases in autism are rarely straightforward.
Assessment, treatment planning, and referral decisions often require integrating medical, nutritional, behavioral, and psychosocial factors—and knowing when a case falls within scope of practice.
This 2-part live workshop focuses on a practical, case-based approach to:
• Assessing feeding concerns
• Writing measurable, client-specific goals
• Developing treatment hierarchies
• Determining when referral or discharge is appropriate
Participants will work through clinical case studies and apply concepts in real time with guidance.

Assessment and Treatment of Feeding Disturbances in School-Aged Children with Co-Occurring Autism and ARFID
ABACLive Workshop Presented by Dr. Lindsey Burrell
Feeding intervention is rarely solved by one discipline alone.
Behavior analysts and behavioral psychologists are increasingly asked to support children with complex feeding needs — but effective intervention requires ethical assessment, interdisciplinary collaboration, and data-driven treatment planning.
This workshop provides a strong foundation for behavioral health professionals to:
✔️ Identify maladaptive feeding behaviors and their medical, nutritional, behavioral, and psychosocial impacts
✔️ Differentiate feeding concerns that fall within the scope of practice for behavior analysts and behavioral psychologists versus other feeding professionals
✔️ Recognize when collaboration with medical and allied health professionals is necessary
✔️ Write treatment goals and measure client progress
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to do the following with guidance from Dr. Burrell:
1️⃣ Write client-specific goals for three case studies
2️⃣ Write a rationale explaining why a goal was or was not included across four target areas
3️⃣ Create a hierarchy of needs for three case study clients
This two-part workshop emphasizes practical application through case-based instruction, clinical decision-making, and multidisciplinary perspectives.
📅 Live Sessions: March 20 & March 27, 2026
⏰ Time: 12:00–3:45 PM ET
🎥 Recording available until: April 12, 2026
