TCA 50yrs Golden jubilee celebrations –Cultural competitions conducted by JET Houston Prajna*
The Competitions, held on Saturday, July 25, were a wonderful celebration of talent, culture, and our rich heritage. The event was conducted successfully from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, with over 30 enthusiastic participants taking part in Sloka Recitation, Art, and Story Writing competitions.
The Art Competition gave children about 60 minutes to express their creativity through coloring, drawing, and artwork. It was inspiring to see young minds bring to life vibrant scenes from our culture, nature, and imagination using beautiful colors and creative ideas.
The Sloka Competition featured participants from multiple age groups, from toddlers to teenagers. One of the most heartwarming moments was watching children as young as 3 years old confidently recite simple slokas such as Hare Rama and Sukla:mbara dharam. Older students impressed everyone with their confident recitation of Haryashtakam, Krushnashtakam, Vishnu Sahasranamam, and many other devotional slokas, reflecting their dedication and practice.
The Story Writing Competition showcased the creativity and understanding of our young participants. Children beautifully narrated stories from our scriptures, including episodes from Sri Rama's life, Lakshmi Narasimha Swami, and several other divine incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Their stories reflected not only imagination and writing skills but also a deep appreciation for the values and lessons taught through our sacred traditions.
Families thoroughly enjoyed the event and shared many positive and encouraging feedback messages, appreciating the opportunity for children to learn, participate, and celebrate our heritage together.Awards will be presented during the TCA 50th Golden Jubilee Celebration on August 8 at the EPIC Center.
Our heartfelt gratitude to the Telugu Cultural Association (TCA) and its leadership for giving Prajna the opportunity to organize these competitions as part of the TCA 50th Golden Jubilee Celebrations.
