Special Olympics has a new Sport in Northwest Colorado!

Calling all athletes and unified partners!
We have a studio, volunteers, and staff interested in coaching, so we just need a list of athletes and unified partners who want to compete in DanceSport with Special Olympics Colorado. Please encourage students and families to complete the online registration as soon as possible. If families need assistance with the registration process, I am happy to help. Once we know how many athletes and unified partners are interested, we can begin scheduling practices. This is a wonderful opportunity for athletes, unified partners, and coaches to have fun and grow our program in Moffat County.

If you are interested in coaching dance, please take the time to complete the background check and follow the steps to become a Special Olympics Coach. The time you invest will pay off in boundless joy as you support athletes in building skills and gaining confidence.

Please see your counselor or Mrs. Simonet for assistance with FAFSA, CAFSA, scholarships and college applications. Also start asking teachers for letters of recommendation so they have time to write them.

SWAP collaborated with the Bureau of Land Management Little Snake River Office, Yampatika, Moffat County High School, Moffat County FFA & AG. Education, United States Wildland Fire Service Northwest Colorado Fire ManagementUnit and Smokey the Bear to perform work on Cedar Mountain. These students worked hard cutting trails, cleaning up trash and learning about water conservation, fire safety and how to recreate safely and respectfully. They were very helpful and respectful and made MCHS extremely proud.

We would also like to thank Pepsi for donating water and Gatorade and City Market for donating to our BBQ lunch.

Blue Bark Cafe would like to thank Robert, Levi and Bobby from the Maintenance Team for installing our new espresso machine. It is working great and the students are so excited. Now we can make twice as many drinks at a time!
