Red Brick Poetry

Red Brick Poetry Red Brick Poetry seeks to daily connect people with the power of poetry. Red Brick also teaches poetry classes and runs poetry readings.

This is accomplished with a beautifully painted unique poetry box filled with free loose-leaf poems and books outside my home, or in a museum, or coffee shop, or elsewhere. In addition there is now a book bench down from the original poetry box so folks can have access to free books. "Whenever you are creating beauty around you, you are restoring your own soul." Alice Walker

A Narnia moment if you will today.…🦁

The faith of Lucy? A worthy topic.
The curmudgeonly faith of Puddleglum? Well it’s just what this Daughter of Eve needs today.

Haven’t read ALL the Chronicles of Narnia? Well when you get to The Silver Chair you meet Puddleglum. As a child I thought he was an endearing character similar to an adult in my life.

As a middle-aged woman trying to live faithfully? He’s me and I’m him.

These books do indeed grow with you just as Aslan does.

The little sister is united with her brother on the other side now.
I had to put Buttercup to sleep today. Her health literally went to crap immediately after our dog crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
Our last piggy gone.
This. FREAKING. YEAR.
Three pets in one year—no more furry friends in the house—2026 stole all of them.

This poem is new to me and scratched just the right itch today.
It’s been quite a few months sitting with my sorrow and today was extremely hard saying goodbye to Father John.
Though I realize this poem addresses regret—it still works for a day such as this.

Memory Eternal.
This has been a difficult loss on top of so so many this year. I’ve gotten to know Father John over the last three years and he was a remarkable human being on so many levels. He’s welcomed me and ministered to me at times when my faith was a flicker—and fanned it back to life.
Please help the family out with a donation—-he has a surviving wife and three kids.

My first permanent installation of a poetry box I designed.
Inside is an effort of eleven years to expose people to poetry outside the normal classroom setting they likely experienced in high school. Or some other stale experience.

This project is a literary ambush.

Poetry breaks rules so it can express the things our souls experience but cannot often describe in prose. Or even in conversation with each other.

And it does it without music.

It gives me chills, sits me down, and even makes me cry when it hits just right.

Fuzzy Britches
By Season Ciechanowski

A sniff, a whiff, a sneeze or tap—
A trail follow or long, sleep running nap—
A piggy train, tuna explore, loud ball yell—
Heaven of hello, love pads along, goodbye hell.

All of you worth It, worth it all—
Seasons of fuzzy love—
Big and small.
