Week Two of New Teacher Induction at ACE was filled with collaboration, learning, and preparation as we continue building the foundation for an incredible inaugural school year. This week, we were proud to welcome members of the CSUSA State Team, who supported our educators through training focused on instruction, school operations, classroom culture, technology, and scholar success. Our teachers continue to demonstrate the passion, grit, and dedication that make ACE such a special place.

We are especially grateful to our incredible bus drivers for the many hours they have dedicated to helping our faculty and administration prepare for scholars. From assisting with campus setup to preparing transportation routes and supporting daily needs, their hard work and commitment have made a tremendous impact. We also want to thank our amazing family volunteers for generously giving their time and support as we prepare for opening day.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the families from second, fifth, sixth, and seventh grade for providing meals and treats for our staff throughout the week. We also appreciate the generous donation from DiCristina’s Restaurant and thank SLA for preparing a delicious lunch on Friday while showcasing menu options for the school year ahead.

We are so grateful for the incredible partnership and support already surrounding our ACE community as we prepare to welcome our scholars!

BUSING IN A LEGACY
On Monday, August 3, our fleet of buses officially rolled onto the ACE campus for the very first time, and what a moment it was! But these buses arrived with much more than wheels and engines—they arrived carrying the hard work, dedication, and heart of an incredible team.

Our bus drivers have been all-in from day one. They have spent countless days helping us move into our new home—unloading storage units, moving supplies from our temporary office, lending a helping hand wherever needed, and now practicing their routes to make sure our scholars arrive safely each day.

And they didn't just drive around the corner to get these buses! They made the trip all the way to Alexandria and back to bring our fleet home to ACE.

So, when those buses pulled onto campus for the first time, it was only fitting that our faculty scholars were there to welcome them home!

This is more than a fleet of buses. It is the beginning of a legacy. It represents service, teamwork, dedication, and a commitment to our scholars that goes far beyond the school day.

And to our amazing bus drivers—thank you for helping us get where we are going, in every sense of the phrase. We are so blessed to have you on our team!

A SPECIAL THANK YOU
A special thank-you goes to Mr. Ira Wells, Bus Transportation Coordinator, and Mrs. Darnetta James, Administrative Assistant, for their tremendous hard work and dedication in recruiting and hiring our amazing team of bus drivers and coordinating the procurement of our bus fleet. Their efforts have been instrumental in getting our transportation department ready for this inaugural year!

ROUTING CLARIFICATION & INFORMATION
We also want to clarify that bus routing and route assignments are determined by the CSUSA state transportation team and are outside of Mr. Wells and Mrs. James’s control.

Because ACE is a public charter school serving families throughout St. Tammany Parish, we are committed to providing transportation access regardless of the school district in which a scholar resides. As a result, some routes may be longer than families are accustomed to seeing. Unlike traditional district schools, where scholars are generally transported from neighborhoods within their assigned attendance zones, ACE serves scholars from across the parish. This is also why scholars attending their local public school are assigned to the school associated with the geographic area in which they live.

We are grateful for everyone’s patience and understanding as we build this transportation program together during our inaugural year.

At Meet & Greet, be sure to stop by the Bus Transportation table in the gym to meet them and to introduce yourself. In the meantime, you can contact them directly:

Darnetta James: [email protected]

Attention Families!

To help ensure a safe, smooth, and efficient arrival and dismissal process, we encourage all families to watch our YouTube video reviewing our school’s carline procedures.

Please remember that each scholar has a specific carline number assigned to them. Displaying the correct number and following all carline expectations helps us move traffic efficiently while keeping every scholar safe. *Carline numbers will be sent home in your Meet & Greet folder.

Your partnership and cooperation make a tremendous difference in creating a positive experience for all families and staff.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/AYvte-UtVZs

Thank you for supporting our commitment to safety, organization, and Scholar Greatness in School and in Life!

Beginning of School Information:

Meet & Greet Days
We are excited to welcome families to our upcoming Meet and Greet Days! Parents and scholars will have the opportunity to meet teachers, build connections, and drop off school supplies as we prepare for an amazing school year. Please attend during your designated time to ensure a smooth experience for all.

Smart Start Days
Smart Start Days help scholars begin the year with confidence by allowing faculty to focus on procedures, routines, expectations, and relationship-building in smaller groups. These required attendance days help scholars feel prepared and supported for a successful year of learning.

The school day will run from 8:25 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There will be no Before Care or After Care available during Smart Start Days.

First Day of School
All scholars will officially begin the 2026–2027 school year on Friday, August 14. While Smart Start Days provide an important transition into the year, August 14 marks the first full day of instruction for all students.

*Reminder-families will not be able to walk their scholars to class on the first day of school, but please attend the Meet & Greet to take any "first day of school" photos and become acclimated with the campus.

We cannot wait to welcome our founding scholars and begin our inaugural year together!

08/06/2026

As we prepare to welcome our scholars back for an exciting new school year, we are looking for parent volunteers to help support morning arrival and afternoon dismissal during the first few days of school.

Carline assistance helps us ensure a safe, smooth, and efficient process for all families and scholars. Volunteers may assist with greeting families, helping direct traffic flow, opening car doors, and supporting staff with transitions.

Volunteer Dates: August 12, August 13, August 14

• Morning Shift: 7:30 AM-8:30 AM

• Afternoon Shift: 3:00 PM-4:00 PM

If you are available to help for one or more shifts, please complete the volunteer sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/CarlineVolunteer
