2022 Horse Camp Week Two has flown by! Our campers have made amazing progress, and each one of them have became better horsewomen this week!

We kicked off week two of Horse Camp with orientation - our campers got to meet their horses after dinner. Everyone, including the horses, is looking forward to all the activities that have been planned this week.

Day 4 of Horse Camp started off with a trail ride, Thoroughbred training demonstrations, and a vet care class. After lunch, our campers gained their "Horse Camp cosmetology license," and they worked on preparing for a horse spa day tomorrow

Day three of Horse Camp is underway - the campers are gaining experience under saddle and every camper participated in our trotting class!

Horse Camp Week 1 is officially underway! The staff and our horses are excited for all that is planned for this week.

We are in need of Junior Volunteers to help out during our two weeks of Horse Camp!

Qualifications:
Be at least 15 years old
Been to Horse Camp at least 1 year
Proven leadership skills and/or potential

Job Description:
Helping instructors prepare for classes (setup, supplies, etc)
Assist instructors with class facilitation
Assist with campers' supervision
Help take pictures as needed
Plus whatever is needed to make camp successful!

Here at the Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center we have two programs that utilize horseback riding for campers from ages 10-18. We are looking for horses to buy, rent, or get donated to fit our programs.

Some of the characteristics that best fit our programs include:
• Western/Trail/Indoor Arena
• Not easily startled
• Novice Riders
• Can manage heat well
• Excellent temperament with horses and people (No bucking,
biting, kicking)
• Not head shy
• Structurally sound
• No underlying medical conditions
• Between 13-17 hands tall

Tasks during the FFA and FCCLA Summer Leadership Camp and FFA Horse Camp:
• April - July
• If renting for the summer, horses will need to be on site in early April so our staff can train and learn about each horse.
o The center will cover feeding requirements, vet bills, and tack for the entirety of time at the center.
• For Summer Leadership Camp, horses will be utilized for hourly arena and trail rides from 9am-4pm Tuesday morning- Thursday Evening in May and June.
• For FFA Horse Camp, horses will be utilized for personalized novice riding instruction in the arena and on trails, basic veterinary care, basic grooming, and may be painted. This will go from Sunday Evening-Thursday Evening in July

But...it's no secret that 2020 was challenging and exhausting and a lot more of our campers are in a tougher financial situation than ever before. Introducing the Kids Cook Club at Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center!

Kids Cook Club is designed for students in grades 3-8 (all genders welcome!). Day Campers will learn to navigate a recipe, the ins-and-outs of the kitchen, kitchen equipment, food safety, and we'll even teach them how to do the dishes!
