We understand that people want to get into their career as quickly as possible, but at

A huge innovation and time saving measure that helps save lives is the ability to transmit EKGs to hospitals before you even arrive. We had a great time showing students how place this on a patient and how it can help them

Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Rockdale Fire crew, their families, friends, and loved ones during this heartbreaking time.

As an EMT school, we know the weight first responders carry every time they answer a call. Losses like this are felt deeply, not only by one department, but by the entire public safety community.

Please keep them in your heart and prayers, and let this be a reminder to stay alert, slow down, and move over when you see first responders on the road. Their lives matter, too.

10:28PM UPDATE | A short time ago, the governor identified the firefighter.

“Marty, the girls, and I are saddened tonight by the loss of Firefighter Juan Antonia Smith. As we pray for his loved ones and the entire Rockdale County community, we ask that Georgians keep them in their thoughts as they mourn this sudden and tragic loss.”

9:01PM UPDATE from GSP |

On June 12, 2026, at 5:00 pm, Troopers were requested to investigate an overturned fire truck crash at Eastview Road and Sigman Road in Conyers, Georgia.

The investigation found that the Rockdale County Fire Department was responding to a structure fire in the area.

As the driver attempted a left turn, the fire truck overturned onto its passenger side.

A firefighter in the rear of the fire truck was ejected and passed away on scene.

The investigation is active.

Our Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT E) is responding to assist.

UPDATE from Rockdale County | ⚫️🔴⚫️

Rockdale County is heartbroken to confirm that a rollover accident involving a Rockdale County Fire Rescue truck occurred at Sigman Road and Eastview Road.

Tragically, the accident resulted in the death of a Rockdale County firefighter.

Out of respect for the firefighter’s family, additional details, including the firefighter’s name, will be released at the appropriate time.

We ask the community to please keep the firefighter’s family, loved ones, fellow firefighters, and all members of Rockdale County Fire Rescue in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

I’m heading to Conyers, Georgia, where a fire vehicle overturned and there is a confirmed fatality. This is at the intersection of Sigman and East View.
