My daughter with her friends for prom. They didn't want to go to the square as the known location and tradition so they started their own and went to Oxford College. This is what excellence looks like and youth having their own minds. Newton College & Career Academy Newton County Schools

I want to personally thank Mr. Chad Walker, the principal and CEO of the Newton College & Career Academy for being the first to answer my call when I reached out to all of the middle and high schools surrounding my district. As many of you are aware, the Board of Commissioners approved to build a Westside Youth facility that will be housed in District 3. It is my goal to receive the feedback from those who will be utilizing the facility and not just the commissioners, project managers, or architects designing something based on what we all thought it should look like or include. I want to secondly thank the amazing students of NCCA for providing me with some valuable feedback. Thank you for your engagement and informing me of your wants and what you did not want in your facility. I am so thankful and looking forward to reaching the youth at the other institutions.

A big "Thank You" to our schools, Woodward Academy, Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology, Heritage High School, and Newton College & Career Academy.
Following up on our tree planting ceremony Monday afternoon, Newton College & Career Academy educator Dr. Marcus Pollard elaborates on the many ways the agricultural education programs at NCCA are connecting student learning with local industry and the community at large. Read more about the great work going on at the academy and in all of our Newton County Schools.
Last Christmas, students with the Eastside High School, Newton County Eco Eagles were concerned about the carbon footprint of cutting down so many trees for Christmas. So, when they raised money to plant a tree to offset that impact, their Science Teacher Betsy Proffitt, contacted Sustainable Newton for suggestions for a group that could purchase and plant a tree. (Since EHS is moving to a new campus next year, planting a tree on the current school site made no sense.)
Today, students at Newton College & Career Academy joined with the Eco Eagles to plant a healthy, vibrant Teddy Bear Magnolia on the NCCA campus at the future site of the school's arboretum managed by students in the Forestry program. Many thanks to Ms. Proffitt and Dr. Marcus Pollard and Dr. Cicely Gunter at NCCA for helping us further this ongoing collaboration between some amazing young people!
Thank you for all that you do! The year’s National School Counseling Week theme is “School Counseling: Better Together.” We are definitely BETTER with our counselors.
