🌟 TEACHER OF THE YEAR SPOTLIGHT 🌟
Our 2026-2027 Teacher of the Year Spotlight Series continues with Ms. Carla Wilkins, Livingston Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year! 🍎
Ms. Wilkins has served Newton County Schools for 12 years, including the past four years at Livingston Elementary, where she teaches all subjects.
Her reason for becoming an educator speaks directly to the kind of teacher she strives to be each day.
💬 “I became a teacher so that my students never have to question whether someone sees them, believes in them, and is willing to stand beside them.”
For Ms. Wilkins, one of the greatest rewards of teaching is watching students grow—not only academically, but personally as well. She wants every child who leaves her classroom to understand that there is no ceiling on their potential or their ability to learn. ❤️
And that belief comes from personal experience. Ms. Wilkins says she struggled with math and writing when she was a student. Those challenges ultimately taught her an important lesson that she now shares with her own students: skills aren’t fixed—they’re built. 💪
Outside of the classroom, Ms. Wilkins says her favorite thing is spending quality time with her sons, who keep her grounded, busy, and constantly inspired.
