That beautiful Korean gate in downtown Little Rock has a story behind it. So does the man it honors.

Haeng Ung Lee founded the American Taekwondo Association and brought its headquarters to Little Rock, drawn by the landscape and the people he met here. David Grimes traces the martial arts pioneer's Arkansas connections and recalls his own brief encounter with Master Lee.

Discover the life behind a landmark you may have passed many times.
