🥔🎉 CHIP CHIP HOORAY! We Filled Our Attendance Tater! 🎉🥔

Mrs. Thompson's fifth graders have been SPUD-tacular when it comes to attendance! 👏👏👏

Through our Present Potatoes Attendance Challenge, the class earned a new piece for their Mr. Potato Head each day EVERYONE was at school!

And once they collected ALL the pieces, the ultimate reward was waiting...

🥔👀 Mrs. Hardy had to dress up as Mrs. Potato Head and wave to everyone from the ROOF during recess! 😂👋

🎉 And, of course, no potato celebration would be complete without a POTATO CHIP PARTY! 🥔

At CES, we're on a mission to improve attendance because EVERY DAY MATTERS! Every day at school is another opportunity to learn, grow, build friendships, and be part of something special. 🖤💛

We are so proud of these fifth graders for working together to reach their goal and showing us that when we ALL show up, great things happen! 🌟

🖤💛 LEADER IN ME SPOTLIGHT: Habit #1 — BE PROACTIVE! 💛🖤

This month, our CES students have been working on Leader in Me Habit #1: BE PROACTIVE. Being proactive means YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF YOU! 💪

Our teachers and staff have been recognizing students who:

⭐ Make good choices—even when no one is watching!

⭐ Take responsibility for their actions.

⭐ Follow directions without reminders.

⭐ Take initiative and do what needs to be done!

Students caught demonstrating Habit #1 earned a GREEN TICKET this week! 🎟️ Today, we drew one lucky winner from each grade level!

🖤🎃💛 Oh My GOURD! We Have the BEST PTG!

There were lots of smiles at leaving CES today as EVERY student received a pumpkin to take home! 🥰

A HUGE thank you to our amazing CES PTG for making this special treat possible! We are so grateful for the time, thoughtfulness, and generosity you pour into making our students feel special.

🔥🚒 Fire Prevention Month: CES Visits the Covington Fire Station!
Our CES students had the opportunity to visit the Covington Fire Station today as part of Fire Prevention Month! 🧑‍🚒❤️

Students learned all about fire safety, explored the fire trucks and equipment, and got a firsthand look at the incredible work our firefighters do every day to keep our community safe.

They also came home with some potentially life-saving reminders to share with their families:
🛑 STOP, DROP, and ROLL if your clothes ever catch fire.
🏠 Choose a family meeting spot outside your home so everyone knows where to go in an emergency.
🚨 Check your smoke alarms regularly to make sure they are working.
🚪 Know two ways out when possible and practice your family's fire escape plan.

Tonight would be a great time to ask your little Trojan what they learned—and maybe even choose your family's meeting spot together! ❤️

A HUGE thank you to Captain Daniels and the Covington Fire Department for welcoming our students, answering LOTS of questions, and taking the time to teach our kiddos skills that could someday save a life. 🚒🔥

We are so thankful for the men and women who work to keep our community safe—and who invest their time in teaching the next generation how to stay safe, too!

One of our favorite CES traditions is coming up! 🥰

ALL CES students are invited to bring their favorite books to life during our Book Character Costume Parade! 🎭📖

⏰ 8:30 A.M.

Families are welcome to join us and cheer on our book characters as they parade around CES! 🖤💛

📚✨We can’t wait to see our entire elementary school come to life with some of our favorite book characters!

🖤💛 HOMECOMING 2026: Through the Eyes of Our Littlest Trojans!
📣 WE’VE GOT SPIRIT, YES WE DO! WE’VE GOT SPIRIT—HOW ’BOUT YOU?! 📣

There’s just something special about Homecoming in a small town—and today, our littlest Trojans got to be right in the middle of the excitement! 🥰🏈🎶

Our halls were filled with black & gold as the Trojan band, cheerleaders, and football players paraded through CES while our elementary students lined the way, cheering, waving, and collecting as many high-fives as they could! 🙌

The smiles say it ALL. ❤️

These are the moments that build Trojan Pride—when our youngest students get to look up to the big kids and imagine themselves wearing that uniform, playing that instrument, leading that cheer, or representing Covington someday.

Today they were the littlest Trojans cheering them on...but before we know it, they'll be the BIG Trojans walking these halls giving out the high-fives. 🥹

🎓 College GO! Comes to Life for CES Third Graders! 🌟
Following our celebration of College GO! Week, our third grade students had the opportunity to spend the day at St. Mary-of-the-Woods—giving them a chance to actually step onto a college campus and experience a little bit of college life for themselves! 🎓

Throughout College GO! Week, we encouraged our students to DREAM BIG, discover their strengths, and think about all the possibilities waiting for them in the future. A visit like this helps take the abstract idea of “someday I might go to college” and bring it to life! 💭➡️🎓

While on campus, our third graders participated in hands-on science lessons presented by St. Mary’s education majors, exploring forces, conservation, erosion, and how to safely and respectfully act around animals. 🔬🐾 What a great opportunity to learn from future educators while seeing firsthand what learning can look like on a college campus!

But the learning wasn’t the ONLY thing that stood out. 🌟
Our third graders made such a positive impression that they even received a special compliment from the St. Mary-of-the-Woods Admissions Office for the way they represented themselves during their visit! 👏👏👏

We spend a lot of time at CES talking about being kind, respectful, responsible, and making good choices—even when no one from CES is standing right beside you.THIS is what that looks like! 💛

Great job representing yourselves, your families, and Covington Elementary so well, third grade. We are proud of you, Trojans! 🖤💛

And to St. Mary-of-the-Woods and their education majors—thank you for opening your campus to our students, providing such a fun and memorable day of learning, and helping us show our students what their futures could hold! 🎓🌟
