Class of 1993 it is with a broken heart that I deliver the news of the passing of Dr. Adam Perry. Please pray for his family & friends as we mourn the loss of our sweet Adam. 🦁
Dr. Adam Perry 1975-2024
Louisiana Orthopaedic Specialists has lost a beloved leader, partner, mentor, and a friend. Lafayette and our surrounding community has lost a talented and dedicated physician, surgeon, and healer.
Dr. Adam Perry founded LOS in 2008 after completing his fellowship training in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine in San Antonio. Starting a practice alone, Dr. Perry had a vision for the future of orthopaedic surgery in Acadiana and guided LOS from the St. Mary Building on Our Lady of Lourdes’s old campus to our current location at Rue Louis XIV and from one to sixteen orthopaedic surgeons. LOS now employs over 200 people, provides surgical care for all ages and all parts of the body, nonoperative orthopedic treatment, physical and occupational therapy, advanced imaging, and after hours Urgent Care services. One of Dr. Perry’s dreams was to have a specialized surgical hospital for LOS physicians - it will open in early 2025. Dr. Perry was a true visionary.
Dr. Perry loved orthopedics and caring for his patients, but his Heart was his wife Heidi and their three boys: Thomas, Gresham, and Drake. When Dr. Perry was asked about his hobbies outside of orthopaedic surgery he responded, “Watching my three boys grow.” Dr. Perry’s commitment and love for his family was palpable. Whether in the office, the operating room, or the parking lot - Dr. Perry was ready with an update on what he and Heidi were up to or how his ‘Boys’ were doing.
Dr. Perry was a lifelong learner who’s goal was to ensure that he brought not only his personal best to every patient encounter - but that he provided the best orthopaedic care that a patient could receive. Dr. Perry kept his knowledge and skills up to date with the latest techniques and technology. Dr. Perry was the first orthopaedic surgeon in Lafayette to perform the anterior total hip replacement - a novel technique that has revolutionized the hip replacement and patient recovery. Dr. Perry also performed Acadiana’s first ROSA robotic hip replacement. Most importantly though, Dr. Perry not only expected excellence of himself for his patients, but he pushed each partner at LOS to be their best as well.
Adam was our Friend - he will never be forgotten.
In keeping with Dr. Perry’s devotion to his patients, LOS will be following up with all of Dr. Perry’s new patients, those who are scheduled for surgery, and those with scheduled follow-up appointments. The team of Fellowship trained Orthopaedic Surgeons that Dr. Perry helped to build are on call and present to continue the work and treatment that he started - in the way that he intended.
