Tahoma Green Team Tahoma's Green Team is more than a couple of tree huggers. We have really expanded within the last year, and work to improve the environmental community.

If you have been itching for an excuse to exercise your green thumb, here are some great service opportunities that we have coming up:
Saturday, 11/19: Work party in the native plant garden at Shadow Lake Bog (10am-2pm)

Monday, 11/21: Work party in Cedar Creek Park (1-3pm)

Saturday, 12/17: Work party and Potluck at Shadow Lake Bog (10am-5pm….can attend a couple hours only if you’d like)

Wednesday, 12/28: Service project at Cedar River Watershed Education Center (10am-3pm)

*For the Cedar Creek Park trip Nov 21 you must be one of the first 20 kids to return a field trip form to Mrs. Nance!

The day at the garden was such a huge success! Thank you so much for all of our incredible volunteers, especially those who managed to stick through some pretty "rocky" situations, without whom this project would never have been completed.

Update: The Green Team has been working in coordination with Shadow Habitat as a part of our Shadow Lake Bog Project, and plans are coming together for the installation of the garden we've been working on creating. Be sure to stay up to date on the latest information regarding when you can help to make our dreams for the garden a reality. Additionally, the Lunchroom Waste Project is close to launch, and the entire team can't wait to see the results of the efforts of those who have been closely involved with that project throughout the year.

Most people assume that the Green Team is simply a couple of tree huggers who yell about those who improperly recycle. However, Green Team has expanded tremendously in the past year to include a wide array of students with varying interests who are all coming together under a common cause. We strive to better the environment and our community by promoting energy reducing habits, and sustainable practices whenever possible. Additionally, we are involved with various environmental service projects. One of our ongoing projects is in conjunction with the Shadow Lake Bog. So, if you ever want to join Green Team, or just learn more about it, come to one of the meetings on Thursdays in room 105. And remember, go green if you ever want to be a fungi.
