📊 HOMESCHOOL BY THE NUMBERS
When homeschool parents were asked to choose their single most important reason for homeschooling, the most common answer wasn't curriculum.
It wasn't religion.
It wasn't even flexibility.
It was concern about the environment in other schools.
About 28% of parents chose that as their #1 reason.
And I think that says something.
Parents aren't only asking, “Where will my child get the best education?”
They're also asking:
“Where will my child be able to learn, grow and thrive?”
Those are two very different questions — and both matter.
NCES reported concern about the environment of other schools as the most frequently selected most important reason in its 2023 survey, at 28%.

📚 WHY DO FAMILIES HOMESCHOOL?
I think sometimes people assume families homeschool for one particular reason.
The statistics say otherwise.
When parents of homeschoolers were asked why they chose homeschooling:
• 83% mentioned concerns about the environment at other schools• 75% wanted to provide moral instruction• 72% wanted to emphasize family life• 72% were dissatisfied with academic instruction elsewhere
Parents could choose more than one answer — and I think that's important.
Because usually there isn't just one reason a family decides to homeschool.
There are a whole lot of little things that eventually lead you to say...
“Maybe there's another way.”
What was it for your family?
Those figures come from the U.S. Department of Education's nationally representative 2023 National Household Education Survey.

📍 HOMESCHOOL BY THE NUMBERS — LOUISIANA
Now this one caught my attention.
Louisiana is one of only a handful of states where homeschool enrollment has continued to grow since the pandemic without the drop-off that happened in many other states.
Growth was only about 1% last year, but that's not really the interesting part.
The interesting part is that Louisiana homeschool numbers just keep moving in the same direction — up.
Homeschooling isn't new here, and it certainly isn't disappearing.
I'd love to know: If you're homeschooling in Louisiana, what parish are you in?
Johns Hopkins identifies Louisiana as one of four states showing continuous homeschool growth since the pandemic; Louisiana grew approximately 1% in 2024–25.
Let's see how far this post reaches! 👇

HOMESCHOOL BY THE NUMBERS
If you thought homeschooling was just a pandemic thing, the numbers tell a different story.
Homeschooling continued to grow across the country during the 2024–2025 school year, with an average increase of nearly 5% among states reporting data.
Even more interesting — more than a third of those states reported their highest homeschool enrollment ever.
Families aren't just trying homeschooling temporarily anymore. For many, it has become a real educational choice.
And if you've been homeschooling for a while, you probably aren't surprised at all. 😊
How long has your family been homeschooling?

🥳 H.O.M.E. Classes is 19! 🎂
What started with just 20 students and a desire to help homeschool moms has grown into something I could never have imagined.
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of walking alongside hundreds of homeschool families—supporting parents, teaching students, building friendships, celebrating graduations, and watching children grow into amazing young adults.
Through every season, our purpose has remained the same:
💙 Small, supportive classes
💛 Strong academics
💙 Teachers who truly know and care
about their students
💛 A Christ-centered community
💙 Partnership with homeschool parents
Today, we’re celebrating H.O.M.E. Classes turning 19—and I’m incredibly grateful for every family, student, and teacher who has been part of our story.
Here’s to 19 years of Helping Other Mothers Educate…and to everything still ahead. 🎉

In a small, supportive class, every student is known, encouraged, and valued. With fewer students, teachers can provide more individual attention, identify learning needs sooner, encourage meaningful participation, and help students build confidence—all within a close-knit community where friendships can grow.
