πŸ… Covington Farmers Market is almost every Saturday in June (closed June 20, 2026) from 9 AM to 12 PM at Heirloom Park @ the Covington Welcome Center (1143 Oak Street SE, 30014).

🚴 Covington Family YMCA Annual Bike Rodeo kicks off summer with cycling safety fun from 10 AM to 12 PM on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Legion Field (3173 Mill Street NE).

🎸 The Arts Association in Newton County + City Live at Legion Concert series returns to Legion Field (3173 Mill Street NE) on Friday, June 12, 2026 at 7 PM with Landslide - A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac. Bring a chair or blanket. Food trucks will be onsite.

🎢 The Celebrating Juneteenth Concert featuring Stello & the Supes is Friday, June 19, 2026 at 7 PM at Legion Field (3173 Mill Street NE). Bring a chair or blanket. Food trucks will be onsite.

🎈 The Annual Juneteenth Parade will make its way through downtown Covington on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 10 AM. The Newton County Historical Committee on Black Heritage Preservation will have their Annual Juneteenth Festival following the parade at Old Cousins / Wolverine Gym (8134 Geiger Street). The public is invited!

β€πŸ€πŸ’™ On Saturday, June 27, 2026, our friends in the City of Oxford, Georgia (11 AM) and City of Porterdale (6 PM) will hold celebrations for the 4th of July.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈAnd coming up in July: Mark your calendars for the City of Covington's 4th of July Hometown Parade and Festival on Saturday, July 4, 2026! Parade will start at 10 AM and the festival will follow until 2 PM (https://cityofcovington.org/index.php?section=visit-calendar&evtid=1573 ). Featuring a concert by Chris, Jon and Scott, free activities for children, food trucks + many downtown restaurants and businesses will be open, join us in downtown Covington for a hometown celebration of America’s 250th!

Newton County Schools is proud to celebrate Oak Hill Elementary School for being named a 2025 SSAS Greatest Gains Platinum Award winner by the Georgia Governor’s Office of Student Achievement!

Out of 2,314 public schools across Georgia, only 31 schools earned this prestigious Platinum designation for academic growth β€” placing Oak Hill among the top one percent statewide.

Even more impressive, Oak Hill posted exceptional student growth scores over the past three years:
⭐ 100% in 2025
⭐ 100% in 2024
⭐ 98.9% in 2023

The school was also recently recognized as a β€œBeating the Odds” school for outperforming projected expectations compared to similar schools across Georgia.

Students of all skill levels are invited to participate in the Newton High School Summer Tennis Camp! Whether students are new to the sport or looking to improve their game, this camp is designed to provide instruction, skill development, and fun in a positive environment.

Camp Details:
β€’ Dates: June 9–10, 2026
β€’ Time: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM (rain or shine)
β€’ Location: Newton High School Tennis Courts
β€’ Cost: $75
β€’ Age/Grade Levels: Rising 3rd–9th graders
Camp participants will receive instruction in serving, volleying, groundstrokes, strategy, and more through drills, games, and friendly competition led by experienced coaches and players.
