Covina High School Avid The goal? Get more students college ready, push them to their academic potential, and send them off to a four year university, its that simple.

Covina High School AVID or Advancement Via Individual Determination is a program in which students are better prepared for college not only only mentally but socially.As it offers a variety of success tools upon the program such as a tutorial program twice a week that improves students challenges they may have throughout there classes,Binders which upon receiving teach the students organization as

it has dividers,an agenda to provide clarification of the assignments/work in the class. Cornell notes in which students are given 3 sections: summary, for which the students can summarize the general process/steps,Questions/Main ideas where classmates can put their questions and/or main ideas that can also be used on their tutorials, providing academic support such as weekly progress reports and 1 on 1 discussions with the avid instructor and all round academics booster. In only its second year at Covina High School the nationally acclaimed college readiness program is having a significant impact on Covina High, the students, and the rest of the campus.
