Congratulations to Las Palmas Middle School for being named a Best Buddies California Outstanding Middle School Chapter of the Year! Through its Best Buddies program, Las Palmas is fostering a culture of inclusion, acceptance, and friendship, helping students build meaningful connections that make a lasting impact.

Congratulations to Covina High School athletic director Jessica Argelander for being named the California State Athletic Directors Association’s Norm Mackenzie Rookie Athletic Director of the Year! In her first year, Argelander expanded athletic opportunities for students, including launching boys and girls water polo programs, while helping strengthen Covina High’s culture of student-athlete success.

Before the end of the school year, Northview High School ACE Mentor Program students showcased their creativity and skills as they presented their yearlong design project at Jordan High School. Students were challenged to reimagine the Dodger Stadium parking lots by designing innovative community-use spaces that foster connection through thoughtful architecture and engineering. Way to go, Vikings!

It was another outstanding season for the Las Palmas Middle School wrestling team! The program’s success highlights the valuable opportunities Covina-Valley Unified provides middle school student-athletes to grow as competitors, teammates, and leaders.

Before graduation, the Class of 2026 took a trip down memory lane, returning to their former elementary and middle school campuses. Welcomed with handmade signs, cheers, and applause from younger students and staff, the walkthroughs celebrated their achievements and inspired younger students.

We were proud to celebrate our eighth-grade students as they marked an important milestone with promotion ceremonies at the end of the school year. As they prepare to begin their high school journey, we look forward to seeing them explore new interests and embrace new opportunities. Congratulations!
