Mat Beast was a huge success!
I want to start by thanking my wife Eve for all her hard work fine tuning our production and helping everything run smoothly. We all still have a lot to learn and improve on, but the show was damn good.
A huge thank you to the 10th Planet Covina Jiu Jitsu community and everyone who helped bring Mat Beast to life. From our live stream crew, photographers and videographers, and front desk staff to everyone working behind the scenes, we have a special group of people who believe in this vision and want to see it grow.
To every coach and athlete, none of this happens without you. You gave us action packed jiu jitsu, unforgettable matches, and real emotion. The team based format creates a level of camaraderie, team spirit, and sportsmanship that makes Mat Beast different. Seeing entire gyms come together to support their athletes, win or lose, is what this event is all about.
When “certain executives” told me we did not have enough star power or established names, it lit a fire under me. Mat Beast is not about chasing stars. We create them. This platform is for the up and comers, the athletes putting in the work when no one is watching, and the coaches and academies helping them grow.
This journey has been incredibly rewarding. I was inspired by Eddie Bravo and Brandon Mccaghren who showed me that something like this was possible. Seeing the hugs, laughter, tears, and excitement reminded me why we do this. Mat Beast was built around the competitors, giving them a platform, capturing their moments, and making competition fun again.
