We have families from Afton, Lovingston, Schuyler, Scottsville and more! We are non-profit and non-denominational. We have a multicultural enrollment. Parental involvement is encoura
ged. Nutritious meals and snacks are provided. We have highly qualified teachers. Our facility is small and home-like. Full
enrollment is 25 children. Our student-teacher ratio is lower than state
requirements. We are licensed by the Virginia Department of
Social Services. We provide full-time, year-round care from 7:00
AM to 4:00 PM for children aged 16 months to 5
years. After school care is provided for children up to 7
years of age. Part-timers are welcome! Curriculum
Covesville Child Development Center staff, parents, and
consultants work closely together to design a curriculum
based on the following goals for early childhood
development:
Social/Emotional: We offer activities that promote self-
confidence, self-motivation, and respect for others. Cognitive: We stimulate cognitive growth by emphasizing
thinking, experimenting, and respect for diversity. Physical: We offer activities that promote large and small
muscle development. Language/Literacy: We encourage children to use oral
and written communication to describe their ideas,
observations, and feelings. Creative Expression: We promote creative expression
through art, music, and drama. Health: We teach children how to be safe and promote
independence. We provide nutritious foods and promote
good eating habits.
