It's time to get your entries in for our Cross-Country Derby on August 30. Divisions from Leadline to Novice in our dedicated cross-country field. Our first Judged Trail Ride exceeded all expectations! This event really did take a village, and I am so grateful to have the support and dedication of our amazing team. The judges, José Javier Martínez, Tricia Johnson, Kristin Maria Babiec, Allison MacKenzie, and Jamie Johnson were excellent; communication worked because Michael Macaluso came up with the idea of walkie-talkies. Alexa Johnson organized the scoring, Daniel Bergin was Pied Piper to his teams of students and Amy Rohne was everywhere. The trails were spectacular thanks to Richard Von Hirschberg, Based on today's success we plan to do another Judged Trail Ride on 10/18 instead of the Versatility competition. Finally a huge thank you to our enthusiastic competitors. Look for photos at Martha Weis Photography.

All set for our Judged Trail Ride tomorrow. Many thanks to Richard Von Hirschberg for the many hours of hard work he has put in to make our trails both rideable and absolutely beautiful!

Reminder: Entries for our Judged Trail Ride on July 12th must be in with venmo payment by 6pm Monday 8th. We have been hard at work marking the trails and preparing the obstacles. The course follows a beautiful scenic route, with plenty of shade. You are welcome to ride in groups, preferably with a maximum of 4 to avoid any congestion. Some show days are memorable and today was one of those, and not just for the perfect weather. Our excellent judge
Augusta Van Tongeren managed to give every rider both affirmation and helpful advice. She was ably assisted by Karen Herrick Lendvay, our loyal scribe, and the CEC team was perfect as usual. In addition to the regulars, Maciel Dum, instructors Amy Rohne, and Daniel Bergin, George Podgorski and Martha Weis, we had new team members who were invaluable:
Amanda Kate Edwards, our new Assistant Manager, Alexa Johnson our Show Secretary, Lauren Christadore and Julianna Monteiro. Thank you all! I was so proud of our students, and our wonderful horses, and delighted to welcome new and previous competitors. It was a very good day! Here are a couple of Martha Weis Photography photographs.

Entries for our second CEC / CDA Dressage Schooling Show must be in by 6pm next Monday 6/8. We offer all USEF/USDF tests, as well as Eventing and Western Dressage tests of choice. Our shows are friendly and welcoming and provide a great opportunity to practice your tests and get constructive feedback from a USDF L judge. For this show our judge is Augusta van Tongeren.

**Update: Due to the overwhelming success of our inaugural judged trail ride, we will be changing the final event of the series from a versatility competition to another judged trail ride on 10/18/26!

2026 Events:Instead of 3 Derbies, we are planning a Judged Trail Ride, one Derby, and a Versatility competition. We have much to offer at CEC and this seems to be a good way of utilizing our facilities, and making our events attractive for those people who would like to do something different but don’t necessarily want to jump. There will be year-end awards for this “trifecta” as there are for our dressage shows. Here are the dates:
7/12 Judged Trail Ride, 8/30 Derby, 10/18 Judged Trail Ride. More details will follow, but in the meantime, please mark your calendars!

The chilly weather did nothing to dampen spirits at our successful first Dressage Show of 2026. Many thanks to our excellent judge Carly Collari, our super-scribe Karen Herrick Lendvay, and our dedicated and efficient CEC team.
2 memorable events made today particularly special: our first ever USDF Century Ride by Linda Calchera and Ninth Nine Mack, and a debut by a 22 year old rescued Amish horse, Tonto. He had once long ago done some driving but hadn't been ridden for at least 12 years. He was started gently under saddle when he arrived at CEC in September and today completed 2 introductory tests with one of our students, Lily Nahadedian.
