What a fun week on the farm (and it’s only Wednesday)!! Our kindergarten, first, and second grade students have braved the kale jungle, seeded our cover crop blanket,and gone on snack-tacular farm tours. Most importantly, the first graders got to take home their very own pumpkins that they planted as seeds when they were kinder-gardeners! 🎃

It appears that we are better at growing veggies and teaching kids than posting to Instagram. I suppose that’s better than the other way around😄 Here are some summertime highlights as we start the new school year. We have pockets full of carrots, tubs full of garlic scapes, peas and more peas, moving piles of farm supplies, garlic harvest with scouts, pea plant removal, Farmer Grace and her turnips, and farmers parading as veggies at Back to School Night. Phew! Our goal this school year is to keep you all better posted on the fun and tasty things happening at the school farm. Stay tuned!

We had so much fun at our Summer Family Day yesterday! We all worked together to paint some of these kiddos’ favorite vegetables on our beautiful harvest cart. And of course it wouldn’t be a good visit to the School Farm without some tasty treats, so we munched on our bounty of carrots, sugar snap peas, and even got to try nasturtium blooms 🌸 We can’t wait to see you next week for some fun activities and even more fresh veggies 🥗🥕🥬🥦

Give peas a chance!

Our second Summer Family Day at the School Farm is tomorrow! Stop by any time between 10 am and 2pm for some fun activities and yummy vegetables. These kiddos LOVED snacking on our sugar snap peas last week and our plants are absolutely BEGGING to be picked tomorrow, come help us eat them!

Thank you to everyone who came to our first Summer Family Day today! We harvested garlic scapes, planted zucchini and flowers, and snacked on pocketfuls of sugar snap peas and carrots! These kiddos sure do love their 🥦🥕veggies🧄🥬and who can blame them?

Wondering where the Coupeville School Farm is? 🤷‍♀️🤷🤷‍♂️Where the red arrow points on this map you will find a driveway through the hedge marked by a School Farm Sign. Come on in and park between the soccer fields and the farm fence.

Happy last day of school! 🤩🎉We had fun pulling some radishes and w**ds out at the school farm this week. The kids weren’t big fans of the radishes on the salad bar but let them get 3 feet tall, pull them out and put them in a pile and they go crazy for them🤣

Connected Foods put together some really great lunches for our last two half days this week using our farm carrots and peas!

High school students on the farm! Thanks to Mr. Felgar’s Agriculture class, who came out during their first period last Wednesday to help us out on the farm! They planted a bed of cabbage and moved one of our silage tarps to a new section. They even got to use their w**d identifying skills, pulling out a few stray Canadian Thistles near the cabbage bed. We love seeing students make connections between what they learn in the classroom and what they see on the farm!
