The cross country team had their first race of the year in Middleton at the Soggy Sneaker Run. Council had a good respectable showing, placing third overall. Greer Green was Council‘s top individual qualifier, placing 5th.

Council’s volleyball team is going to be very competitive this year. In fact, three of the Long Pin teams (Council, Horseshoe Bend, and Salmon River) are three of the top 1A teams in the entire state, perhaps even the best three. It’s going to make some incredible competition this year. Council opened their season last night at the Kuna Klassic where they are punching uphill against 4A, 5A, and 6A teams. They lost to a 4A powerhouse Cole Valley Christian, but beat 6A Kuna and 4A Mccall. Today, they will play 6A Mountain View, 5A Coeur d’Alene, and 5A Bishop Kelly. It’s going to be a great year to watch these girls!

Council took on the #1 ranked Kendrick Tigers tonight. Council has some good potential, but they are inexperienced at some key positions. We were also missing our new starting quarterback Jim Tucker, our most dynamic playmaker, who is also our only experienced cornerback. The result was somewhat expected, with Council falling 50–0. While it is a humble beginning, look for this team to make great strides in the next couple of months. Here, sophomore quarterback, Thaine Bauer, completes a 35-yard pass to senior tight end Wyatt Hatfield. We will also post in the comments another video of junior defensive lineman James Yoakum making a sack.

It’s hard to believe, but football season is already upon us. Council starts off by playing 5x consecutive state champion Kendrick, who has been at 2A but moved down to 1A this year. Both teams had fantastic years last year and both lost extremely talented senior classes. Both teams also expect to be in contention again this year. Make the road trip and come support our football team! Also, our volleyball team will be competing at the Kuna Klassic against multiple teams on Friday and Saturday! Our volleyball and football teams should both be very talented this year, so make sure and support them as much as you can!

A great shout out to our big boy on the offensive and defensive lines, Re*****on Crowell. Re*****on is featured as one of the top linemen in the entire state this year. Well deserved.

Council’s varsity girls attended an 11-team summer basketball tournament in Midvale this weekend. Teams included Weiser, Nampa Christian, Nyssa, Highland, Nez Perce, Samon River, and more. They did great, finishing second overall despite missing two key players for all of bracket play and only having six total players today. It’s a great confidence booster for what could be a good season coming up. Great job, girls!
