You are the workforce behind the workforce.
If every home daycare, every center, every in home provider decided tomorrow, “I’m done,” what happens?
Hospitals would be short staffed.
Factories would stop.
Offices would scramble.
Schools would struggle.
Small businesses would close for the day.
Parents cannot show up fully to their jobs if someone is not showing up fully for their children.
You are not “just” watching kids.
You are stabilizing the economy one snack, one diaper, one circle time at a time.
And I know how easy it is to feel small in this field. Especially when:
• Someone with a fancy degree looks down on what you do
• A parent questions your policies
• You’re wiping spaghetti off the floor for the third time
• You miss one of your own family events because you can’t close
But here’s the truth.
You are raising future employees, leaders, doctors, teachers, business owners.
You are building the foundation that lets their parents go build everything else.
That is not small work.
That is not “less than” work.
That is infrastructure level work.
So the next time you feel invisible or undervalued, remember this:
Without childcare providers, the workforce does not work.
Stand a little taller today. You are holding up more than you realize.
