A Thomas Jefferson alum! The man in which our wrestling room was named after in 2008 Council Bluffs Community School District Thomas Jefferson High School

Bill Smith was one of wrestling's true pioneers. An Olympic gold medalist, 2-time NCAA champion, and owner of an undefeated 52-0-1 collegiate record, he later became a championship coach at multiple levels of the sport. Although amateurism rules kept him from a second Olympic appearance, his impact on wrestling remains legendary and was honored by UNI with a retired jersey and named wrestling mat in 2026.

Greetings Jacket Nation! Just a friendly reminder that TJ will be working the fireworks tent in Hyvee parking lot on Broadway for a few weeks. Each day a different sport or club is working to raise money for their activity. Wrestling days are Tuesday the 23rd and the 30th, please consider stopping in and supporting.
