La Salle County 4-H member Bayleigh Walker represented our county at the Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador Short Course in College Station, where she gained valuable industry knowledge, developed advocacy skills, and connected with fellow youth leaders from across Texas.

“I had a wonderful time at the Texas A&M Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador Short Course! I was so blessed to have met new people, connect with old ones and create memories that will last a lifetime! From learning how our food is made from farm to market, to learning about reproduction, judging meat, evaluating livestock, visiting feeder cattle operations, training for media, and spending it with the best people was so wholesome! My favorite memory was when we all got to spend the evening together playing broom ball. We learned how to work as a team, come together, and bring home a win! What I took home was not just an abundance of knowledge, but it was about learning that this industry needs people. It needs people that will stick up for it and advocate, because in the end the livestock industry needs us and more importantly we need it. This was definitely a week well worth spent! Everyone needs to take a chance at being a Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador!” - Bayleigh

Congratulations, Bayleigh, on representing La Salle County 4-H and advocating for the future of agriculture!

La Salle County 4-H member Bayleigh Walker proudly represented our county at Texas 4-H Congress, a premier leadership and civic engagement experience where youth learn firsthand how the legislative process works.

As “Senator Walker,” Bayleigh participated in the Senate and successfully passed her bill through both the House and Senate Committee rooms for Homeland Security and Public Safety. Through this experience, she gained valuable insight into government, teamwork, and leadership while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

“Texas 4-H Congress was a highlight of my summer! Not only did I learn how a bill is passed into law, I learned that it takes a team to get something done! This year, I had a great time in the senate, playing the role as Senator Walker! My bill was passed in both the House and Senate Committee rooms for Homeland Security and Public Safety. It was a great honor to be in the capitol and have an experience like no other. You could tell the amount of hard work and dedication it took to put this event on and watch it come to life. The memories I made with friends will not be forgotten! Thank you Texas 4-H Congress!” - Bayleigh

Congratulations, Bayleigh, on representing La Salle County 4-H and demonstrating outstanding leadership!

La Salle County 4-H members recently put their pledge into action through a community service project benefiting Threads of Love San Antonio, a nonprofit organization that provides handmade clothing and care items to premature babies and their families at no cost.

Thanks to the generosity of our members and community, more than 300 pieces of yarn and fabric were collected and delivered to the organization yesterday with members Brody Franklin, Caleb Franklin, Maya Franklin, Lila Franklin, and volunteer Jennifer Franklin in attendance.

During the visit, members received a tour and witnessed firsthand the love, compassion, and dedication behind every item created by volunteers. Seeing how something as simple as donated materials can bring comfort and hope to families during difficult times was a powerful reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a lasting impact.

Thank you to everyone who donated and helped La Salle County 4-H make a difference beyond our county lines. 🍀

If your water well was affected by the July flooding, now is the time to check your water quality. Free f***l coliform bacteria screening is available to help determine if floodwaters may have contaminated your well.

Don’t miss this opportunity to help ensure your well water is safe for your household. We encourage all La Salle County residents with flood-impacted private wells to participate.

❗️THERE ARE NO EVACUATION ORDERS IN EFFECT AT THIS TIME❗️

📍Pet Evacuation Shelter is located at 300 Engineer Ln. (The La Salle Fairgrounds Show Barn). This shelter is not opened at this time. It will only open in the event of an evacuation.

💕🐾We care deeply for all of our four-legged (and two-winged) residents as well. Since the Red Cross Shelter is only allowing service animals, we have set up a Pet Evacuation Shelter for all of our other furry (and feathered ) friends! This shelter is manned by Austin Pets Alive!. Austin Pets Alive has graciously volunteered to set up a pet shelter for all other pets in the event of an evacuation. They have a team that will be there at all hours with your fur (or feathered) babies. They will play with them, take them on walks, feed and water them and gives them extra snuggles during this scary time.

📢This Pet Evacuation Shelter is ONLY FOR PETS. Humans cannot accompany their pets, but fear none because Austin Pets Alive will treat your pets like their own until they can successfully reunite them with their families.

📲In preparation, please scan the QR code posted below to pre-register your pets. Pre-registering your pet will help Austin Pets Alive with the supplies they may need in the event your family has to evacuate. If you have any questions, please contact LSCFR PIO at 830-483-1329.

🐶🐱🐦‍⬛The Pet Shelter will accept dogs, cats and birds! If you have other pets you wish to shelter, please contact Jordana Moerbe at 915-240-2590.

❤️We encourage you to visit Austin Pets Alive! page so you can see just how amazing this group is with pets. Thank you!
