EIE will continue no cellphones out during the school day. Students are expected to have them in their backpacks and NOT on their person. We have been doing this for 2 years now with parent support.

📱🏫 CALIFORNIA'S NEW SCHOOL CELLPHONE LAW TAKES EFFECT JULY 1 🏫📱

Parents across the North State may soon notice changes to how their child's school handles cellphones during the school day.

Beginning July 1, 2026, every California public school district, charter school, and county office of education must have a policy that limits or restricts student cellphone use during the school day.

The goal of the new law is to:
📚 Reduce classroom distractions
📱 Help prevent cyberbullying during school hours
🧠 Improve student focus and learning
❤️ Support student mental health

What will this look like?

That depends on your local school district. Each school board will decide how to implement its policy. Options may include:
• Phones locked in magnetic pouches
• Phones powered off and kept in backpacks
• Limited use during lunch or passing periods
• No phone use from the start to the end of the school day

The law also includes exceptions for:
✅ Emergencies
✅ Medical needs
✅ Students with IEPs or Section 504 accommodations

Parents will still be able to communicate with their children through school emergency communication procedures.

📣 North State parents, we want to hear from you!

Do you support restricting cellphone use during the school day, or do you think students should have access to their phones?

Tell us:
📍 What school district are your kids in?
💬 Do you agree with the new law? Why or why not?

Let's keep the conversation respectful and hear from parents across our community.
