Vaz has been a monumental part of West Valley for decades, and his impact on our students, Ag program, and campus continues today.
We are incredibly thankful for all he has done for West Valley and all he continues to do. This honor is so well deserved!

We are incredibly proud to congratulate retired West Valley High School agriculture teacher Tom Vazquez on his induction into the California Agricultural Teachers’ Association Hall of Fame! 🏆
Tom began teaching Ag at West Valley in 1993 and spent the next 29 years building a legacy that continues to impact our students and community today. During his career, he transformed West Valley’s agriculture program into one of the school’s largest and most impactful programs and helped create the Bry Walther Memorial Farm, a hands-on learning facility that has served thousands of students.
Under Tom’s leadership, students earned numerous state championships, developed into agricultural leaders, and went on to careers in agriculture, education, public service, the military, and beyond. His impact reached far outside West Valley.
California has been teaching high school agriculture since 1903, and today there are more than 1,100 high school agriculture teachers across the state. Yet Tom is only the 146th agricultural educator inducted into the CATA Hall of Fame.
For nearly three decades, AUHSD was incredibly fortunate to call Tom one of our own. Please join us in congratulating Mr. Vazquez on this extraordinary and well-deserved honor! 💙💛🌾
