We are pleased to announce that the Cottondale FFA has been named a 3 Star Chapter by the National FFA Organization! This is the highest star rating bestowed on chapters by the National FFA. The chapter will be recognized on stage during the 99th National FFA Convention and Expo this October.

Day 4, Thursday July 23, the Cottondale and Suwannee FFA Chapters visited the Fort Valley State University Farm. The chapters encounter farm animals on campus, including goats, sheep, and a dairy cow. The chapters also learned the process into making different types of goat milk products including goat milk soap. The Chapters then made their way over to Dickey’s peach orchard and processing plant where they saw how peaches are processed and sorted. As the week is coming to a end, the Cottondale FFA Chapter wants to thank Suwannee for the awesome time everyone had, it was a great way to meet new people, grow together and connect and so many different ways. Also we would like to thank the Camp John Hope Staff for being amazing hosts.

Day three , July 22nd, the Cottondale FFA Chapter spent most of their time at Camp John Hope discussing future events and actions that will take place this upcoming school year. The Cottondale and Suwannee FFA chapters made their way over to the Pure Flavor packaging plant. They learned many different things while on their tour, including how produce was shipped in, packaged , and shipped out to big consumer chains.

Day two, Tuesday July 21st, the Cottondale and Suwannee FFA Chapters visited the Houston County School System Canning Plant Operation where the chapters learned the process of canning different types of food. The chapters made their way to Lane Southern Orchards to look at the peaches being sorted and packed, the students had the opportunity to buy items made from the peaches in the warehouse . The last stop that was made before heading back to camp was Barrington Dairy where milk was collected and processed before being loading onto milk tankers and be distributed, the students also had the opportunity to hand milk cows. That evening a mock formal dinner was held where students learned proper etiquette.

Day One, Monday July 20th, The Cottondale FFA traveled to Camp John Hope In Fort Valley Georgia. For dinner there was Spaghetti. After dinner Cottondale and Suwannee FFA Chapters met up and talked about Banquet Etiquette, then had Social time, there was ping pong, basketball, corn hole, and board games!

The Cottondale FFA is pleased to recognize Alumni member , Charlize Reyes, at the 98th Florida FFA State Convention and Expo this week, helping serve on behalf of the organization through State Staff. We’re blessed that the FFA Organization continues to make a long lasting impact on our students, feeling like they return and embrace more opportunities in the Blue and Gold. On behalf of the Cottondale FFA chapter, thank you to all of the event staff, state officers, and convention coordinators for making this week possible. She was also the 2023-2024 Vice President for the Cottondale FFA Chapter!

Day 4 of the Florida FFA State Convention, the Cottondale FFA Chapter attended the 5th General Session this morning at 9 am, where Kaylee Seal, Gage Hasty, and Milan Carter received their State Degrees. Courtesy Corp also got recognize and got pins which consisted of Bentley Brockett, John Burgan, Brocktyn Hallman, Madison Farkash, and Brooklyn Skipper. Where Mr. Scurlock also talked about the FAAE Report!

Day 3 of Florida FFA State Convention, at 9 am this morning we attended the 2nd General Session where we received Premier Chapter for HS & MS and we also received National Chapter for HS. We attended the Life after High School Workshop where Ms. Lisa Andrew’s spoke about good money management. For dinner we went Bucca’s, we also celebrated Mrs. James and Mrs. Brock’s birthdays!! and had a great night!
