Last Saturday, our CHS Academic Bowl team competed at the University of Alabama in the 2026 William Rufus King Memorial Tournament. These students finished 4th overall against some top Alabama high schools. Landon Pumphrey and John Ross Green both finished 4th and 5th overall individually. Team members from left to right are: Clay Dilmore (coach), John Ross Green, Hunter Gough, Elijah Reynolds, and Landon Pumphrey. We are so very proud of this team and their awesome coach! Keep it up, boys! The sky is the limit for you!!! 🧡🐝💙

October Newsletter

10/07/2026

After careful consultation with local emergency management officials and continuous monitoring of weather conditions associated with Hurricane Isaias, the District has made the decision to close all schools and district facilities on Friday, October 9, 2026. All school activities, athletic events, extracurricular programs, and after-school functions scheduled for Thursday, October 8, 2026 are still allowed.

Any activities scheduled for Friday are canceled. District officials will continue to monitor conditions closely and will work with local emergency management agencies to determine when it is safe to resume normal operations.

We currently anticipate reopening on Monday, October 12, 2026, pending weather impacts, road conditions, utility restoration, and safety assessments.

Updates will be communicated through:

• District website

• District social media platforms

• Parent Square

We encourage all families and employees to follow the guidance of local emergency officials, review their emergency preparedness plans, and avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather conditions. Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and commitment to keeping our school community safe. Our thoughts are with all those who may be impacted by this storm.

Hunter Nolen,

Superintendent
