It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of our beloved classmate, Heather Yocum. To know her was to love her. Her passing is felt deeply by so many. Please keep her family, fiancé and friends in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this impossible time. Heather, may you rest in peace.
A message from her family:
It is with profound sorrow that we share the heartbreaking news of Heather’s passing.
She was found unresponsive on the morning of Tuesday, June 3. Emergency responders believe she passed late Monday night with her beloved dog Arya by her side. The family finds solace in knowing that Heather passed peacefully, and that even if someone had been by her side, nothing could have changed the outcome. God wanted Heather by his side and in the loving arms of Grandma Carol.
While the exact cause of her passing is still being determined, we can confirm that drugs and su***de have been ruled out.
The past six years spent with Chad were the happiest of Heather’s life. She had found her true soulmate in him and was joyfully looking forward to their wedding this coming November. Her loss is deeply felt by her fiancé Chad, her father Duff, mother Cherri, brother Taylor, and the rest of her loving family and friends.
Heather was a radiant spirit — a kind, compassionate soul who brought light to everyone she encountered. Everyone was her friend and everyone loved her. Heather’s absence leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who knew and loved her.
Heather will be cremated, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date, to be announced on this page.
Heather had a deep love for all living beings, especially animals in need. In honor of her passion, and in lieu of flowers or gifts, we invite you to consider making a donation in her name to Stray Rescue of St. Louis (https://www.strayrescue.org/).
Thank you for your love, support, and compassion during this incredibly difficult time.
