SCC - Community Education Program Pillars: Youth Programs, Pre-College Initiatives, Continuing Education, Lifelong Learning

At our Community Education Department, our mission is to foster a dynamic and inclusive learning environment, empowering individuals of all ages and backgrounds to thrive in their personal and professional pursuits. Our four program pillars, carefully designed to cater to diverse needs, are:

Youth Programs: Nurturing young minds with engaging and enriching experiences, igniting their curiosity and passion for learning from an early age. Pre-College Initiatives: Equipping aspiring students with the necessary skills and knowledge, enabling them to confidently embark on their higher education or professional journey. Continuing Education: Providing comprehensive and relevant courses that enable individuals to enhance their expertise, advance their careers, and stay competitive in today's ever-changing job market. Who were the people the Romans called “barbarians,” and how did they go from outsiders on the edge of the Roman world to the dominant cultures of medieval Europe?

In this fascinating class, we’ll explore the Germanic, Celtic, and Norse peoples who challenged, absorbed, and ultimately reshaped the remnants of the Western Roman Empire. Discover how these societies transformed from rivals of Rome into the kingdoms and cultures that would define Western Europe for centuries to come.

From Germanic warriors to Norse explorers, their story is one of conquest, adaptation, and transformation—and it changed Europe forever.

Spooky Treats & Creepy Eats: Halloween Cooking Class

Get ready for a frightfully fun night in the kitchen! Kids ages 7–12 are invited to join us for a Halloween-themed cooking adventure filled with spooky snacks, creepy creations, and wickedly delicious treats.

Young chefs will learn basic cooking and kitchen safety skills while making festive favorites like Spooky Calzone Snake, Monster Mouths, and Zombie “Blood.” They’ll get hands-on in the kitchen, have fun creating their spooky dishes, and enjoy the tasty results!

No tricks, just tasty treats and plenty of Halloween fun!
Come decorate delicious Halloween-themed cookies with colorful icing, sprinkles, and plenty of spooky creativity. We’ll have everything you need, so just bring your imagination and get ready for some sweet Halloween fun! All decorating supplies are included!

St. Charles Community College hosts a two-day holiday craft fair featuring artisans, makers, and small businesses. This is a "day before and day of" component of the Light the Tree at SCC community event on Saturday with a focus on unique, handmade, and gift-ready items for holiday shoppers.

Friday, November 20, 2026 – Setup: 9:00 AM–2:00 PM; Event: 2:00 PM–8:00 PM
Saturday, November 21, 2026 – Refresh: 3:30 PM–5:00 PM; Event: 5:00 PM–8:00 PM;
Breakdown: 8:00 PM–9:30 PM

Discover the power of gentle touch and relaxation in this heart-centered experience designed to support physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Join us for an introduction to Healing Touch and learn the Self-Chakra Connection technique, a simple, non-invasive practice that helps open, connect, and balance your energy centers. This guided activity is done comfortably in a seated position and can be practiced individually or with a partner.

Eileen holds a Master of Education degree from the University of Missouri–St. Louis.

A cozy fall crafting experience for ages 10 to adult!

Gather a friend, family member, or come enjoy some creative time for yourself! Our Knit Chunky Pumpkins class is a warm and welcoming fall activity designed to be fun for everyone ages 10 to adult.

You’ll create two adorable chunky pumpkins that are perfect for adding a handmade touch to your fall décor. Choose your favorite colors and embellishments and make each pumpkin your own.

No experience is needed, and all supplies are provided. Just bring yourself and your creativity! Whether you’re crafting with a parent, grandparent, friend, or simply enjoying a relaxing morning of making something beautiful, you’ll leave with two pumpkins and some wonderful fall memories.

Young People's Theatre Junior presents Peter Pan JR., a magical musical adventure featuring some of the youngest and newest members of the YPT company.
Based on the beloved play by J.M. Barrie, this production follows Peter Pan on a journey to Neverland, where they encounter the Brave Girls, a gang of Lost Boys, Captain Hook, and his dastardly crew.
Featuring favorites such as “I’ve Gotta Crow” and “Never Never Land,” Peter Pan JR. is a joyful introduction to musical theatre and a wonderful opportunity to see our youngest performers take the stage.
This production features emerging young performers who are building their skills and gaining experience through YPT Junior. Audiences can expect the enthusiasm, energy, and charm that come with a young cast discovering the joy of live performance.
