Our playground is coming to life! We are getting closer to it being ready for the children to enjoy!

Room 4 is learning all about bugs this month! As part of our exploration, students had the opportunity to investigate real worms in dirt. They used their senses to observe how the worms moved and felt. Many students were very brave and even held the worms in their hands! This hands-on sensory activity encouraged curiosity, exploration, and conversations about nature and living things.

Completed UPK applications must be received at the Rondout Valley District Office by 12:00pm on Thursday, April 30, 2026. The District Office is located at 122 Kyserike Road, Accord, NY 12404 - use the Third Street Entrance.

Out with the old...in with the new! Our students are anxiously waiting to run, climb, slide and explore our new playground! We will keep you posted on the various stages of development leading up to the big reveal!

Brookside School is closed today Tuesday, March 3rd

Our students participated in a very special Valentine’s Pizza Job Day! Throughout the week, they practiced important vocational and communication skills by traveling around the school to take pizza orders from related service providers and office staff.
Students also helped prepare for the big day by assembling pizza boxes and stamping them with their name stamps — adding a personal touch to each order.
On Friday, the real fun began! Using a switch-adapted pouring device, students assembled the pizzas according to each order. They demonstrated teamwork, independence, and problem-solving skills every step of the way.
To complete the experience, students delivered the finished pizzas throughout the school — proudly serving the very people who placed their orders.
What a wonderful way to combine learning, life skills, and community connection. We are so proud of our hardworking students!

February is Transportation Month in Room 4!
This week, the children explored boats and learned how they move across the water. To make learning even more exciting, they created crunchy apple boats during their cooking project. What a fun and tasty way to explore a mode of transportation!
The learning didn’t stop there — students also enjoyed playing in the snow with different modes of transportation, discovering how vehicles move in winter conditions. Hands-on activities like these make learning meaningful, engaging, and memorable!
