TO CELEBRATE FRENCH CINEMA AND CULTURE
French Spotlight Event to Feature the U.S. Premiere of
Love Affair(s) (‘LES CHOSES QU'ON DIT, LES CHOSES QU'ON FAIT’)
Newport Beach, Calif. (October 2021) – On Tuesday, October 26th, 2021, the 22nd annual Newport Beach Film Festival will present its French Spotlight, an evening celebration of French cinema and culture, featuring a screening of Love Affair(s) (‘LES CHOSES QU'ON DIT, LES CHOSES QU'ON FAIT’) followed by a festive post-screening gala.
After her boyfriend Francois is called back to work in Paris, Daphne, three months pregnant, finds herself alone in the French countryside to welcome her boyfriend’s cousin Maxime. Over the four days waiting for Francois to return, Daphne and Maxime get to know each other and share intimate stories that bring them close together. This film garnered the most nominations at the recent Cesar Awards—the “French Oscars.” Love Affair(s) (‘LES CHOSES QU'ON DIT, LES CHOSES QU'ON FAIT’) is directed by Emmanuel Mouret, and stars Camélia Jordana, Niels Schneider, Emilie Dequenne and Vincent Macaigne.
Love Affair(s) (‘LES CHOSES QU'ON DIT, LES CHOSES QU'ON FAIT’) will screen on Tuesday, October 26th, 2021 at 7:45 p.m. at The Triangle Starlight Cinemas (1870 Harbor Blvd., Costa Mesa, CA 92627). The post-screening celebration will take place at 10:00 p.m. at Time Nightclub (1875 Newport Blvd B245, Costa Mesa, CA 92627). The event will include select tastings from top Orange County restaurants, traditional entertainment as well as DJ, live entertainment, and a hosted bar by Tito’s Handmade Vodka.

Newport Beach, Calif. (October 2021) – On Tuesday, October 26th, 2021, the 22nd annual Newport Beach Film Festival will present its German Spotlight, an evening celebration of German cinema and culture. The event will feature the U.S Premiere of the highly anticipated German film, Hello Again – A Wedding Day followed by a festive post-screening party.
This film follows Zazie as she is invited to her best friend’s wedding. She decides to do everything to prevent what is, in her eyes, the mistake of his life. But when she finds herself trapped in the time loop of the wedding, things get complicated. The heartfelt comedy Hello Again – A Wedding Day is written and directed by Maggie Peren and stars Alicia Von Rittberg, Edin Hasanovic, Emilia Schüle and Samuel Schneider.
“The Festival is very proud to once again screen the very best of German filmmaking. Hello Again – A Wedding A Day is refreshing and fun,” stated Gregg Schwenk, CEO of the Newport Beach Film Festival.
The German Spotlight film will screen on Tuesday, October 26th, 2021 at 8:30 p.m. at The Triangle Starlight Cinemas (1870 Harbor Boulevard in Costa Mesa, CA 92627). The post-screening celebration will take place at 10:00 p.m. at Time Nightclub (1875 Newport Blvd B245, Costa Mesa, CA 92627). The evening will include several of Orange County’s top restaurants serving signature tastings, multiple DJs, live entertainment, and hosted bar by Tito’s Handmade Vodka.
The Newport Beach Film Festival German Spotlight is presented by the German American Business Association and supported by the German American School Association, Portal Languages, German Consulate General Los Angeles, and the Wende Museum.
Admission to the German Spotlight Film and the Post-screening Party is $40.00.
Post-screening Party only is $30.00/ Film Screening only is $20.00.

We'd like to announce that Portal Languages will be working with the 22nd annual Newport Beach Film Festival's German Spotlight.
The NBFF is the largest international film festival based in Southern California, with over 50,000 attendees annually. This year, the event will be taking place October 21-28, 2021, with the European Spotlight taking place Tuesday, October 26th. One of the Newport Beach Film Festival's most important missions is to promote and celebrate diversity, so we have multiple spotlights that showcase different countries, including Germany. We will be showcasing the culture through various elements of the arts in our three-part event, consisting of a red-carpet photo opportunity, a film screening, and an afterparty.
