Three sneaky planets photobombed the moon! You can see Mars, Saturn, and Mercury in the bottom right, and the constellations Pisces and Pegasus in the background

Another SpaceX launch out of Vandenberg. The best ones take off just after sunset so when they get high enough the sun still hits the exhaust plume, but the sky is already dark

We're *finally* going back to the moon! The countdown hits zero at 3:24 Pacific time this afternoon. Artemis 2 will carry 4 astronauts towards the moon, marking the first time humans have gone beyond low earth orbit since 1972. This will pave the way for a future return to the lunar surface. You can watch all the excitement on NASA tv!

Some great moments captured at the Splashdown event for the STEAM Race to Space Reading Challenge. Didn't even need to bring the dome to show off and teach some exciting astronomy topics.
The MARS Planetarium is very proud to have sponsored the reading challenge for its first two years, and looking forward to continuing to encourage kids to explore their interests through reading!
We do get another chance tonight to see the Aurora, so around 9:00 make sure you check. You don't want to be the only one who misses it! You especially have no excuse if you live up north, are cloud-free, and have dark skies.
