It is July 4th, 1776 and the shot heard round the world had been fired over a year prior at the battles of Lexington and Concord. The British were forced out of Boston and the Battle of Bunker Hill had already been fought. The War for Independence had been in full swing for over a year, but on this day, 56 representatives from all 13 colonies gathered to sign the Declaration of Independence to "dissolve the political bands" between American and Great Britain. Let's all enjoy the freedom bestowed upon us in this great nation as we celebrate our 250th birthday.
