In 2007 I began my study of Black Feminist Theory and was introduced to the most brilliant thinkers, radicals, and activists of our time.
These women in particular, bell hooks (bottom left), Kimberlé Crenshaw (top left), Marsha P. Johnson (center right), Angela Davis (center left), and Audre Lorde (top right), gave me a language, a landscape, and frames thru which to see and understand my place in the world.
Their insight, clarity, and courage inspired me to organize, speak up, and stand with others on our path toward shared liberation.
Their resilience, vulnerability, and love for life, illuminates for me still, a hope and a pathway for a world free from oppression & violence.
Life under the current administration is often terrifying and enraging. Several times I have felt moved to post or share something that would amplify my fear or reinforce my rage - an act that might make me feel like I'm *doing* something rather than sitting frozen in front of the screen.
But I didn't post, or I would post and then delete.
And I've started to worry that people who know me, or who follow my work, might assume that my lack of visible outrage means that I approve of what's going on with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, with the global child, human & sex-trafficking ring, and with the dehumanization of one another. Or worse, that I've fallen so deep into the realm of woo-woo spirituality that I've lost touch with current reality.
In truth, I feel more grounded and resolute than ever before. I know who I am and what I believe. I sit at the feet of these and many other Black Women who have been courageous enough to make visible everything that the rest of us have been made to ignore or deny. They hold a mirror to the system and invite us to look. To see ourselves within it, and with that awareness, to make ourselves responsible not only for dismantling it, but for transforming it for future generations to come.

Emotional Intelligence is far from a buzz word. It's a critical capability as we move through the unfolding uncertainty of the current moment. More than attuning to the emotions of others, EI invites us to ask ourselves - how am I feeling? What does that mean? What can I do about it?
I know most of us are on multiple social media platforms. Spaces that are inundated with conflicting information, violence, fear. Giving ourselves a moment to pause, reflect - go inward, allows us to reckon with what is true vs. what is noise.
Then we have a choice.
I share this not as a prescriptive of what others should do, but as practices that I am actively engaging in to hold onto my humanity and show up in my community. I have to ask myself, what choices am I making today to align to the vision of the future I hold for myself, for others, for the world. How am I, as Mahatma Ghandi said, "being the change"?

My heart is always breaking when I pause to remember that children are dying everyday all over the world. Senseless, unnecessary death and suffering is unfathomable to me in any context.
Maybe you're receiving messages right now that are attempting to shame you into posting or sharing something inflammatory. We've been here before. And we will be here again.
I hate to say it, but performative activism is not going to radically change things. Posting a video or sharing a donation link may give us the feeling that we're doing something helpful, but really were just perpetuating a real sense of powerlessness. Sharing our anger or pain might give us some satisfaction that we've done something, but who have we really helped besides ourselves? All we're doing is trying to get away from our pain and sorrow at seeing the truth of the world.
There is much to grieve and much work to be done, but I will no longer spend my time trying to convince another human being of our shared humanity. Maybe they will come to understand in this lifetime, maybe they won't.
From this point forward, I dedicate myself to helping those who are ready and want to, heal and recover from their own childhood traumas, so that the story of their family's legacy can transform from one of suffering to one of joy.
Let us plant seeds of peace and love today for a brighter future tomorrow.

My heart beats for humanity.
To intend harm or death on another person is a great tragedy for all of us.
May we find peace within ourselves and extend it out to all others.

During this 3-month program, we'll explore:
🌟 The history & mystery of Tarot
🌟 Deck structure & care
🌟 Reading Intuitively
🌟 Characters, Relationships, & Storytelling
🌟 Being an Ethical Tarot Practitioner
Program Details:
💖 10 Live Group Classes
💖 3 Individual Coaching Sessions with Alisha
💖 Weekly Self-Study Activities
💖 Digital Participant Workbooks
💖 Group Classes on Thursdays 7-8:30 PM PST
💖 Program Cost: One time payment of $750 or three monthly payments of $250
Class will begin on the last day of Summer. We'll spend all of Autumn together from September 21st through December 21st. We'll develop greater understanding of the Major Arcana, the elements of the four suits, and our own inner knowing.
This program might be right for you if you are curious about Tarot and maybe don't even have a deck yet. Or perhaps you've been dabbling casually for a few years and want to deepen your practice and improve your readings for others.
If you or someone you know is interested, DM me and let's chat!

Everyone's talking about intuitive Tarot! What does it mean to be an intuitive reader?
For me it means being able to synthesize information about a card from multiple sources. The first source, as the practitioner and reader, will always be my own understanding. 🌟This is why readings will vary from reader to reader and from deck to deck.🌟As a practitioner, I am bringing an embodied sense of the symbols & imagery conveyed in each card. How I interpret a symbol may be different from the next person - merely because we have different experiences and knowledge. In last year's A Journey Through Tarot Class, two students were History majors. Both of them had knowledge about different symbol's historical & cultural context that I would never know. In the sharing of our knowledge, all of our understanding of the cards expanded.
Which leads me to the second source of information - other learners, readers, practitioners, and deck authors. If you were to look at the same card from 5 different decks, you will see 5 slightly different interpretations - of the same base card! This is the way of art. In seeking out other points of view you will inevitably add greater nuance and richness to your own understanding.
Overtime, with devotion and practice with your deck, your understanding will emerge instantaneously - intuitively.
Try this process out with your deck's Fool. Share a photo and your interpretation in the comments!

🌕The Moon is FULL!
Full Moons are a special time to invite acknowledgment and clarity into your life. Wherever you are on your own spiritual, healing, or growth journey, the full moon invites you to acknowledge all that you have moved through already! It's also not at all surprising that the brilliant silvery light of the full moon can illuminate that which has not yet been visible to us, either because we weren't ready, or simply couldn't comprehend... yet. But tonight is the night!
Get out your cards, and try this 3 Card Full Moon spread.
1. Acknowledge where you are and who are you presently on your journey
2. Illuminate that which you are ready to see and understand.
3. Gain clarity on what to do next to integrate this new wisdom into your path.
Share your reflections below! I'd love to hear how this goes for you.
