State Median Income Table and Copayment Structure Changes

Dear Tribal Partners, Child Care, and Early Learning Providers,

On Oct. 1, 2026, the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is updating the State Median Income (SMI) table used to determine eligibility and copayment calculation for families applying for Working Connections Child Care (WCCC). The SMI is updated annually in October.
The new copay calculation table can be found on the WCCC webpage.
A new copayment structure that applies to households eligible for WCCC will also go into effect on Oct. 1, 2026. This change is required under RCW 43.216.804, which was passed by the Legislature during the 2026 legislative session.
The new structure only impacts families who are applying or reapplying for WCCC or have reported changes on or after Oct. 1, 2026. Other families will continue to maintain their current copayment through the end of their eligibility period.
Families who have copayments waived due to unique eligibility under RCW 43.216.808 or 43.216.814 will continue to be eligible for waived copayments.
For more information, visit the WCCC webpage. If you have questions, please call 1-800-394-4571 or email [email protected].
