Member of the Month Marie Haverty
Somewhere along my fitness journey I realized that I wasn’t going to get where I wanted to on my own. I had some exposure to CrossFit Enapay through my husband, Ethan, and knew that he had experienced great camaraderie at the gym. I was a few months postpartum when I decided to give CrossFit a try, and I am so glad that I did. Trying to find time and energy to workout felt impossible in that season but the structure of class and support from people at the gym made working out feel fun again! I was excited about having more of a community and accountability to work out.
I didn’t have specific numerical goals for my fitness when I joined the gym, instead my main goal was to improve my consistency and intensity of my workouts. I am energized by the fact that even after years of playing sports feel stronger and healthier than I have before. The biggest challenge I have faced with the gym so far was fitting it into my schedule. Once I made the decision to start going at 6 am, my consistency really improved. For me, this is the best way to take care of myself without feeling like I’m dropping the ball in other parts of my life. As my consistency improved, and I have been able to work out with a lot of the same people, that naturally keeps me motivated and reinforces consistency. It’s a special thing in life to have people that genuinely care about you and check in on you. That is an environment that our gym creates, I’m thankful for that.
If you are considering CrossFit but have said, “that is just not for me.” I have been there too. If it seems intriguing but intimidating, I would highly encourage you to just give it a try. It is bigger than just a workout class. It is a community of people that will care about you, teach you, and will meet you where you are at. For me, there have been too many people to name that have become genuine friends from the gym.
I am very thankful for the gym community that has welcomed me and encouraged me. Joining CrossFit Enapay has undoubtedly had a positive impact on my life. More than achieving my goal of having more constant workouts, I am thankful for the people that have become friends along the way.
