Tax season can bring stress for Iowa families. Questions about filing correctly, preparation fees, or missing valuable tax credits can make an already tight budget even tighter.

Through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, ISU Extension and Outreach helps transform tax season from a source of stress into an opportunity for greater financial security.

Did you know?

- Nearly 3,700 Iowa families benefited from VITA services delivered by ISU Extension and Outreach in 2026.

- The IRS estimates that Extension’s VITA services resulted in more than $9.3 million in economic impact in Iowa this year.

That’s real impact for Iowa families and communities! Our appoitments in the Wayne Office will be available starting in 2027.

Virtual Grant Writing 101 Workshop – October 13

Have a great project idea but need help turning it into a grant proposal? Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is offering a virtual Grant Writing 101 workshop designed for nonprofit, government and school district representatives!

Participants will learn how to:
- Understand grant terminology
- Find funding opportunities
- Align projects with funder priorities
- Write persuasive narratives and budgets
- Use practical examples and take-home templates
