Staff Spotlight- Meet Mr. Kevin Rice, our Principal!
Mr. Kevin Rice is a Distinguished Graduate of Saint Joseph Catholic School, making his return to lead the school a true homecoming. His connection to SJCS runs even deeper, as both of his children are also graduates of Saint Joseph and recipients of the school's highest student honor, the Saint Joseph Award.
Kevin has been married to his wife for more than 20 years, and together they have been blessed with two wonderful children. Their family has experienced firsthand the lifelong impact of Catholic education, which fuels his passion for ensuring every Saint Joseph student grows academically, spiritually, and personally.
He holds a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University, where he received multiple Excellence Awards recognizing outstanding achievement in his graduate coursework. In 2023, he was honored by the Indiana Department of Education as an Emerging Leader in Education, recognizing his commitment to servant leadership and educational excellence.
As principal, Kevin believes the mission of Saint Joseph Catholic School is simple but profound: to help form young men and women who know Jesus Christ, love Him, and are prepared to serve Him in the world. He often reminds students, families, and staff that the school's ultimate goal is not simply to prepare students for high school or college—but to help prepare them for Heaven. This vision is reflected in Saint Joseph's motto: Rooted in Christ. Committed to Excellence.
Outside of school, Kevin proudly describes himself as a lifelong "nerd." He enjoys reading, writing, painting miniatures, and watching great films. He is currently working toward self-publishing his first fantasy novel, Redemption, the first book in a planned trilogy. His favorite novel is The Lord of the Rings trilogy, his favorite movie is Interstellar, and he's always happy to talk about Warhammer, Star Wars, or almost any great story set in a richly imagined world.
Whether greeting students at the door each morning or speaking to the parish community, Kevin is passionate about building a school where every child is known, loved, challenged, and inspired to become the person God created them to be.
