With ties to OSU through her late husband Peter Hughes Westigard, professor of entomology, her appreciation for agriculture is beautifully portrayed through her work.

Congratulations to Jessie Uehling, associate professor of botany and plant pathology, on being named a 2026-27 Fulbright Scholar! As one of three OSU Fulbright awardees, her project will be based in Melbourne, Australia studying plant-beneficial fungi from fire-impacted plants to help bring back displaced native plant species as part of fire restoration. A packed house welcomed Dr. Temple Grandin today for a discussion of her book, The Grandin Papers! With standing room only, more than half of the audience was made up of OSU students, 4-H members, and FFA members eager to learn from a leader whose ideas have transformed animal agriculture.

Temple Grandin is coming to OSU on Friday, August 14, for a discussion of her book, The Grandin Papers!

The book draws on more than 50 years of research in animal behavior and welfare that has transformed the livestock industry. Dr. Grandin is a world-renowned animal behavior scientist, livestock industry consultant, author, and autism advocate.

The event begins at 9:30am at the CH2M HILL Alumni Center, followed by a Q&A and book signing. Doors open at 8:30am.

Free admission is available to current OSU students and members of FFA and 4-H. To receive free admission, students must register by emailing Juliana Ranches at [email protected].
