When wildfire smoke filled Central and Eastern Oregon skies, OSU Extension employees and partners sprang into action.

They distributed thousands of N95 masks, assembled hundreds of DIY air filter kits, coordinated hay and grazing assistance, connected residents with trusted resources and worked alongside local, Tribal and state partners to support communities affected by the fires.

It's a reminder that Extension's work continues long after the flames begin.

Or are you the type that likes to zoom in to the scale of a mossy log, a decaying stump, or the underside of a rock? The latter could be described as microhabitats nestled within the former larger-scale habitats.
