Homeschool

Wilderschool 1.0 | Mondays & Tuesdays | 9am-2pm | Ages 6-10
Designed for families looking for a nature based, experiential approach to education. Participants will learn about science through natural exploration and survival skills lessons.


WilderCraft | Thursdays | 9am-3pm | Ages 8-14
Build. Cool. Stuff! What would you need to build to live comfortably outdoors? This class is designed to be student-led and experiential. Learn responsible tool use - with whittling, weaving, woodworking, and more! Now one hour longer!


Wilderschool 2.0 | Fridays | 9am-2pm | Ages 9-14
For youth 9+ who are ready to dive deeper into skills and curriculum development. We will deepen connections to the skills we teach and the world around us. Instructors will introduce compound skills, two monthly field trips, and regular guest instructors to incorporate additional skills development.


After School

Wildervillage | Friday Afterschool | 2pm-5:30pm
Join us as we create an immersive village in the woods during early release time on Fridays! Each week we add to our civilization - building shelters, creating firepits, going on expeditions to forage for resources to expand our village, developing a barter economy and trading resources, creating a map of the surrounding territory, and more!

Its crawdad season! A highlight for these campers was a crawdad boil during their wilderness survival summer camp!

Oftentimes, memorable experiences are encountered spontaneously - not planned. Each camp is different; instructors are guided by student interest (i.e. crawdad catching) and adapt the survival curriculum to invite new experiences to childhood.

This summer we're teaching paracord survival bracelets in all our classes - throughout the week, these young campers were encouraged to dismantle their bracelets to use their paracord for creative applications - such as shelter, traps, and first-aid scenarios! Kids are encouraged to be resourceful, using their wit to make the most from their circumstances.

What an incredible week of fishing at E. E. Wilson! Freshly-caught fish were roasted over an open flame… and kids had a feast!

It’s summer training week, and we can already tell we have a phenomenal team! Their summer adventure began this week at our headquarters, where staff have been camping out together, cooking shared meals, practicing skills, and planning new survival scenarios for the summer season.

They’re excited to share some new skills - bipod tarp shelters and pioneering structures - so kids can engineer free-standing tents, watchtowers, ladders, and elevated platforms!

If you’ll be joining us in the summer, you can expect to see some of these faces. All of them have proven this week to be highly committed, intentional, and caring guides. We can’t wait to hear stories from the adventures they lead!

School's out in Boulder and summer adventures are just beginning - we're taking last minute sign ups for our outdoor summer camps! Meet friends, navigate outdoors, start a campfire, learn to find food, build your shelter, live comfortably in the wilderness!

In our wilderness survival camps, campers build survival skills and test themselves against real life survival scenarios. Skills taught include shelters, fire building/fire safety, tracking, foraging, navigation, traps, knife safety (9+), cordage, knots, and primitive skills. In our intro (ages 6-9) and advanced (ages 9-14) camps, Campers learn confidence, initiative, communication, and common sense through fun survival scenarios in teams and on their own. The week ends with an exciting final scenario where their skills are put to the test!

We also have a bushcrafter's camp for ages 9-14. This camp is all about tool use, creativity, and engineering. Projects may include creating a wood baton, natural fiber cordage, hand carved wood spoon and/or bowl, paracord survival bracelets, feathersticks, walking sticks, fishing spears/traps, and more.

Summer is nearly here, and we still have some spots available in our Corvallis fishing, archery, and wilderness survival summer camps! If you'd like to join us for an adventure, you can view some programs highlights below.

Fish, Forage, Fire!
Jun 22 - Jun 26 | Ages 8 - 14
Kids learn to fish, shoot bow and arrows, and forage edible plants in Fish, Forage, Fire! We opened this camp later - our other Fish, Forage, Fire camps are now full with waiting lists. This is a rare opportunity to get into Fish, Forage, Fire if you missed the Parks and Rec registration open date.

Fishing curriculum includes baiting, cleaning, cooking, gear, casting, and of course, fishing. Foraging will include plant ID and safe harvest practices. Archery practice will occur several times throughout the week with an emphasis on safety, practical use and form.

June 29 - Jul 3 | Ages 8-11
In our Survival classes, kids go through hands-on outdoor scenarios and learn to build shelters, make fires, navigate outdoors, and live off the land - all while building friendships, teamwork, and leadership skills! Our goal is building initiative, self-control, and judgment while connecting with the natural world and having fun. Curriculum includes shelters, fire safety/building, knife safety, tracking, foraging, traps, orienteering, cordage and knots, and primitive skills. The week ends with an exciting final scenario that tests the skills they've developed!
