Dr. Jennifer Beamer and Joseline Raja Vora at Oregon State University are recruiting young adults who identify as having Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (ID/DD) and their caregivers, instructors at fitness centers, and hiring managers at fitness centers in a research study titled “A community-based initiative to develop an adaptive training module for young adults with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities (ID/DD) to be fitness instructors”.

The Social Mobility Lab at Oregon State University is recruiting children with and without mobility disabilities between the ages of 12-48 months to participate in a research study titled Efficacy of overground body weight support system (BWSS) on mobility, social interactions and
object interaction of children with and without mobility disabilities. This study is about an inclusive play group where children with and without mobility disabilities engage in free play together. This study is also about how a body weight support harness system can assist children with mobility disabilities to move and play with peers. See attached flier for more information and to sign-up. The Social Mobility Lab at Oregon State University is recruiting children with and without disabilities between the ages of 6-36 months to participate in a research study
titled Promoting Driving Practice of Early Powered Mobility Devices with a Mobile Robot.

The mobile robot is similar in form to a Roomba (a household mobile vacuum-cleaning robot), but in addition to the mobile base that Roombas typically have, our robot has built-in features resembling children's toys, such as blinking lights, sounds, and colorful moving parts. Early powered mobility devices include motorized wheelchairs, modified ride-on toy cars, and other similar forms of technology. You will be compensated for your time (up to a $40 Amazon Gift Card).

Check out this great article recognizing the work and passion of one of our doctoral students, Winston Kennedy! 👏🏻

In search of answers, Winston moved across the county to pursue his second doctoral degree — this time a PhD in kinesiology with an adapted physical activity concentration from the College of Public Health and Human Sciences.

Check out Shelby Wanser lighting up OSU, just like they light up our programs for individuals with disabilities. 💡 During the summer and after-school programs, Shelby teaches children to train their family dog to mimic their behavior. Shelby also lit up our IMPACT program as an excelling volunteer during their undergraduate program here at OSU. We would not be able to provide these opportunities to physical activity without bright contributions like Shelby. ✨Thanks for all you do, we look forward to seeing you on the lamppost and around campus! 🌟😊

For those of you who have not yet heard, Dr. JK Yun will be moving on to new things at East Carolina University! He has had such a tremendous impact on the Adapted Physical Activity program and graduate students at OSU the last 20 years! We are sad to see you go but so grateful for the time and wisdom you have shared with all of us - good luck and stay in touch!!! 😊👏🏻
