Oregon State University’s Openly Published Environmental Sensing Lab is hiring a full-time Faculty Research Assistant to help design, test, and improve electronic systems used in environmental sensing research. This role is a great fit for an electrical or computer engineer who enjoys hands-on problem-solving, mentoring student teams, and turning circuit designs into reliable field-ready tools. The position supports work in embedded systems, analog and digital circuits, PCB design, sensor integration, troubleshooting, and solar/battery-powered systems.
The Faculty Research Assistant will work closely with students and faculty to review designs, guide fabrication readiness, support bench testing, improve lab workflows, and help develop open-source technologies that empower researchers, educators, and communities. They’re looking for someone with experience in electronics design and troubleshooting who is excited to mentor emerging engineers in a collaborative, mission-driven lab environment.
