Every year, our 5th graders participate in a rite of passage that has become one of the sweetest reminders of who we are as a school community.

Everyone dreams of the day they get to spend it “Dodging out of 5th grade.”

Parents show up in outrageous costumes. Students take the court. Dodgeballs fly.

But beneath all the laughter is something deeper.

It’s a reminder that parent partnership isn’t just about the hard work of helping children learn and grow. It’s about making memories together too.

Years from now, most of these students won’t remember what happened in class on the last days of school. But there’s a good chance they’ll remember the day their parents showed up looking ridiculous, laughed alongside them, and chose to be fully present for one more memory.

And maybe that’s what they’ll remember most about being part of this community…not just that they were taught well, but that they were surrounded by people who showed up, celebrated often, and found joy in doing life together.

That’s the kind of community we’re grateful to be part of.

SC friends, family, and alumni of all ages,

You are invited and welcome to join us Wednesday, April 15 from 6:00-7:30pm for our upcoming SC Night of The Arts: In Remembrance of Tina Longballa! Tina poured her heart and passion into our community and students. It is our joy to continue the legacy of this art-driven event she pioneered for our community.

Located in our HS Building, we will be featuring work and performances from our student artists in a variety of content areas including: Visual Arts, Drama, Culinary, Band, Choir, Wood Shop, Metals, Chapel Worship, Photography, Graphic Arts, and Yearbook.

Glance through the history of SC with a chronological display of our yearbooks; Join our choir as we honor Mr. Chuck Perry and perform his arrangement of “A Simple Prayer”; Make cookies with our culinary program; Participate in improv games with our drama program; Sing along and worship together with our Chapel Team and choirs; and explore visual arts and displays of work created from our wood shop and metals.

Additionally, for those in attendance, thanks to a number of local artisans affiliated with SC, we will have several drawings for hand-crafted door prizes!

We hope to see and connect with all of you as we celebrate The Arts together here at SC!

Tell me about your habitat...

At Thursday's Habitat Museum, you could ask any second grader about their chosen habitat and they could share all sorts of details. What kinds of animals live there, the climate, what is the environment, what would you see there. Their dioramas depicted all sorts of details of the different habitats of the Earth.

In partnership with parents, lessons from school became labors of love at home. Whether decorated with animals created with clay, lights, even waterfalls made entirely of hot glue, students and their parents collaborated to create spectacular exhibits to share with students, parents and teachers from grades all across campus.

Well done, second grade! Well done!
